The view will change very soon!

Last year St Martha's Bridge displayed flower baskets from June through to October and proved to be very popular amongst pedestrians and motorists.

The Navan's Council displays have just been put up and this year Johnstown Tidy Towns display will soon follow but will also include a few trial plants. The challenge has been to include some Bee Friendly varieties since most seasonal bedding plants aren't good for pollinators.

Herbs and fruits have been suggested but we'll leave it as a pleasant surprise.

Water

Anyone considering buying planters should follow the JTT's example and pay more to have those with deep water reservoirs. It paid dividends after last year's weather conditions and they thrived and survived the heat, drought and hosepipe ban.

This year rainwater collection is being arranged together with a clever device for transporting it. This might lessen the costs for contractors to water from their own source.

Ensure you buy containers with water reservoirs to reduce water loss and frequency of replenishing.
