The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) emphasizes safety when working on roofs, especially during salvage and recovery operations. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including helmets with chin straps, safety footwear, and fall arrest equipment, must be worn. Safe systems of work, including risk assessments and the use of safety lines, are crucial for minimizing risks associated with working at heights. 

The NSW RFS provides training on "Safe Working on Roofs" to equip members with the skills to work safely on roofs during various operational situations, including salvage and recovery following fires and storms.
