In the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS), a Mitigation Coordinator role focuses on preventing and reducing the impact of bushfires through various activities. They work closely with other RFS members, stakeholders, and the community to enhance bushfire preparedness and resilience.
Focus on Prevention:
The overall goal is to enhance bushfire mitigation within their region, enabling the use of fire in the landscape and supporting fire management groups.
Prepare Hazzard Reductions:
A core responsibility is conducting hazard reduction burn plans and other mitigation works to reduce fuel loads and potential fire intensity.
The District Coordinators will meet every 3 months to plan and discuss upcoming burns in The Hills district.
