Nicole Erbe - Director & Libretist

Nicole Erbe (Director and Libretto): Born in Ludwigshafen, Germany, Nicole first completed a dance education at the New York City Dance School in Stuttgart and then studied architecture at the FH Aachen and the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. An education as a theatre pedagogue followed. She gained her first artistic theatre experience at the Junges Theater Basel and the Vorstadttheater Basel, as well as through further training as a director with Marcelo Diaz in Madrid and Zurich.

Since 2003, she has been working as a director, mainly in the border triangle between Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, often in unusual places and in new constellations, and often in multilingual contexts. Her eclectic career as a cross-over artist has enabled her to work in various genres such as dance, architecture, opera, and contemporary puppetry.

From 2014-2019 she worked as a director at the Rheinisches Landestheater Neuss. She is particularly interested in overlaps between the fields of acting, video art, documentary and puppet theatre.
