Check-In

Check-In time is 4pm. And a few tips to make a smooth check-in.

We owe you a bunch of gratitude for exercising prudence and economy when using the utilities in the house. Your efforts allow us to keep the costs down (and pass those savings to your future stays).

  • Keep the thermostat at 68 to 72*F. Enjoy the change of seasons with a cozy sweater and some house slippers.

  • Turn off the lights when not required.

  • Help us conserve water. Keep your showers brief.

Check-in time is 4:00 PM local time

  • The driveway can comfortably park 2 cars, 3 if you are well coordinated. HOA regulations prohibit the parking of cars along the side of streets and roads. Once you park the car, head through the gate (use the pull knob to open) to the courtyard along the curved gravel path, leading you to the main door.

  • Spot the smart lock on the door. Simply input your 7 digit access code (usually the last 7 digits of YOUR phone number as it appears on the vacation rental site) followed by the large button at the bottom. You will hear an audible mechanical sound. Once the sound stops, depress the handle and gently nudge the door inwards. Still having trouble, text/call us at +1 201-918-3197.

  • Before you take your shoes off, we recommend that you unload your belongings from the car and assemble them on the front porch. We follow a no-shoes policy inside the house and request that you do the same. Getting all your belongings on the front porch will save you from having to change into and out of your shoes repeatedly.

  • Water heater closet is located behind the slatted barn door, to the left and next to the front door of the house. Turn the dial on the water heater from Low to Hot (B). It can take a good hour for the water to heat to a temperate for a warm shower.

  • Now retire your shoes at the front door. For your convenience and comfort, a basket with house slippers is placed inside the home by the front door.

  • Carrying your bags into the room instead of rolling them in, will avoid any scratches on the hardwood floors.

  • Adjust the Nest thermostat to a comfortable temperature.

  • While you are at it, go ahead and turn the thermostat for the hot tub, in the courtyard, to a comfortable 100*F.

You are all set for a wonderful stay at The Cottontail!
