Good News:

• The no-death streak is now on 4 days. As a result, the total remains at 273.

• The U.S. secretary of state is calling on a more in-depth investigation into the origins of Covid in China. Hopefully with this, we can get some real answers very soon.

• A CDC study has found that 20% of Americans are fully vaccinated and 33% have at least one shot of the vaccine if two shots are needed.

Not So Good News:

• 53 new cases were found, resulting in a total of 26,169.

• Five new hospitalizations were found making the new total 971.

• Travel/Vaccationing is starting to rebound and are high, according to the Department of Transportation. Health experts are worrying this could lead to another surge if travelers aren't vaccinated.

• The South African Covid-19 variant has been shown in a study that it was able to penetrate through the Pfizer vaccine in some regard.

Good News:

• There is now a 2-day streak of no new deaths.

• The CDC has recently confirmed that chances of getting COVID from a surface is very low. This is because of a multitude of factors, such as the microscopic indents, residual cleaning material, natural cleaning by the air, and more.

• Loudoun County has, once again, ramped up vaccine distribution. Today alone, Loudoun administered over 5K vaccines, at an approximate rate of 12 vaccines a minute for the 7 hours each clinic is open. Way to go Chair Randall!

• Our pre-registration list is getting large chunks taken out of it each day, but today we see a large decrease. Now only 33K people remain on the list, meaning that more people in the near future will be able to just go to their doctors office and get the shot for free.

Not So Good News:

• Just like yesterday, another large case increase was reported: 115. The total is now 26,012. This is strange, because just as the cases started hitting low 30's a day a couple weeks ago, we are now seeing a sharp incline of 100+ every day. Could we be in the midst of another surge?

• Two new hospitalizations were found, making the new total 965.

• As we stated a few days ago, the AstraZeneca vaccine is causing (rare) cases of blood clots among those who take them. Due to this, many countries are starting to pause their supply and look to alternative treatments.

• Sadly, this Sunday, the Loudoun County testing clinic has closed down its resources after a facility malfunction. Everyone scheduled to be tested on that day should be wary that it is no longer open.

Good News:

• • Our death count has remained constant since yesterday.

  • Loudoun County has severely ramped up it’s vaccine administering rate. While last week’s numbers were around 1K vaccines a day, we are now up to 4K vaccines and over 190K total administered. Moreover, visiting www.loudoun.gov/covid19testing allows you to find testing spots near you.

  • Loudoun County also urges ALL 16+ YEAR OLDS to pre-register for the vaccine NOW to take it April 18th. The link is on the www.loudoun.gov website. This way, schools can reopen earlier and life can return to normal again.

  • Based on the large government surplus in our county, Loudoun has created an auction to buy items bought by the government at a large discount. These items range all the way from a Jeep, to toys.

Not So Good News:

• • We had another large case increase today of 103, bringing us to a total of 25,897.

  • Three new hospitalizations were found, making the new total 963.

  • Large repercussions of the massive Johnson and Johnson mix up are starting to become visible. States are now facing a J&J vaccine deficit, and military vaccinations have reached a near standstill.

  • With every issue that’s faced our country, there are always “snake oil salesmen” that have tried to profit from it. The latest scams are false vaccine cards, sold for less than 20$. Please check your cards and make sure they are legitimate.

Good News:

• The CDC is now reporting that soap and water is all that is needed to completely rid surfaces of COVID-19. Before, the understanding was that you required much more to clean surfaces such as using bleach.

• FEMA has launched a program where they help families fund Funeral Expenses that are related to COVID-19.

• The White House is now expanding vaccine access to more community health centers across the country to "advance equitable distribution".

• Every state in the country has committed to the April 19 all-adults vaccination deadline that the President set.

• A new study has found that the Moderna and the Novavax vaccine are likely to be effective against the California variant.

Not So Good News:

• We had a huge case increase today of 101; this takes the total to 25,794.

• The no-death streak has ended with two deaths today resulting in a total count of 273.

• One new hospitalization was found, making the new total 960.

• A study by The Lancet Psychiatry found that after 6 months, 33% of COVID patients experienced a psychiatric or neurological illness with around 13% experiencing one of the two for the first time.

• The WHO study on the origins of COVID-19 was released last week has started to receive international criticism for being too inconclusive due to basically all the topics covered, it was recommended that more study was needed.

• The CDC has found that the U.K. Variant now causes the most infections in the country; this includes regular COVID. Experts are getting worried as this could be another sign of a fourth surge.

Good News:

• Our hospitalization and death counts were equal to those reported yesterday.

• Today, essential workers in group 1c are eligible to be vaccinated. If you or a loved one are affiliated in the following sectors, inform them of this news: Energy, Water/Wastewater, Construction, Food Service, Transportation, College Faculty, Finance, Information Technology, Media, Legal Services, Engineers, Public Health workers, and Barbers.

Not So Good News:

• Cases went up by 51 making the new total 25,623.

• Colleges are completely split for the incoming freshman of Fall 2021. While some advocate for keeping school closed until all members of the faculty and student bodies are vaccinated totally, while others want to wait and watch the effects.

• This summer, countries like South Korea will not be participating in the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo, due to the pandemic. This could lead other countries to pull out, resulting in a game with less participants than ever before in modern history.

Good News:

• Our death rate has remained constant from yesterday to today.

• Loudoun county, since the beginning of this pandemic, has administered over 250,000 tests. 

• Each day, over 3 million people are being vaccinated in the USA. Considering that 51 million people in the USA have already been fully vaccinated, the population is 328 million, and that it usually takes 2 doses to fully vaccinate, we could be done with COVID in about 185 days or less.

Not So Good News:

• We had 65 new cases today, making the new total 25,517.

• We had 1 new hospitalization today, making the new total 955.

• The president of Argentina, despite being fully vaccinated, has contracted COVID. We can only hope that this is false news, or that he took some bad dose. If not, this means that people who are vaccinated can contract the virus.

Good News:

• To aid parents that are going through the struggles of parenting during COVID, Loudoun is offering sessions. Topics of conversation would include keeping kids busy, fun indoor activities, and more.

• This month, Eid, Passover, and Easter are all being celebrated. Please celebrate safely and responsibly.

Not So Good News:

• In Loudoun alone, we have over 93,000 people on the vaccination waitlist. However, we are vaccinating about 9,000 people a week.

• Once again, the 7-day positivity rate increased to a whopping 7.1%, continuing the grim trend observed yesterday and fortifying theories that a fourth surge is coming.

• A troubling trend from AstraZeneca's reports show that more people that have taken that vaccine are getting cases of blood clots.

• We had 61 new cases today, making the new total 25,452.

• We had 1 new hospitalization today, making the new total 954.

• We had 1 new death today, making the new total 270.

Good News:

•  The total death count remains stable at 269 for another day.

• It is likely we finally go back to school next year, as recent studies by Moderna and Pfizer concluded that the vaccine retains it's massive success rate within an adolescent body.

Not So Good News:

• We had 140 new cases today, making the new total 25,391.

• We had 7 new hospitalizations today, making the new total 953.

• Sadly, despite yesterday's astonishingly low COVID numbers, we will likely see a large 4th surge, as we see through the case count today being over 4.5x larger than yesterday's. Moreover, our 7 day positivity rate is up 0.5%.

• As the vaccination rate continues to stabilize our populations (despite the large Johnson & Johnson blunder yesterday), Governor Northam has decided to make vaccines eligible for all adults (people aged 16+) by April 18th. The reason why this is a bad thing is because of the massive clogging that we've seen in states like Texas who've tried this already.

Good News:

• Overall, based on rate and cases, Virginia has been improving slowly yet surely. Experts predict that we will be "COVID-free" by the end of the year, but this disregards variant-type cases. Either way, COVID will leave a long-lasting and profound impact on our society as a whole.

Not So Good News:

• We had 30 new cases today, making the new total 25,251.

• Due to a wide scale factory mistake, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will arrive at later times.

• Hospitalizations and deaths have remained stable from yesterday to today.

• Local community colleges have started offering tuition free schooling, specifically for in-demand fields. If you are graduating this year or next year and are undecided on your college prospects, this could be a good decision to make!

• Local leaders in our community are getting vaccinated publicly to extinguish skepticism towards the vaccine.

Not So Good News:

• We had 85 new cases today, making the new total 25,221.

• COVID's toll on developing countries and those who were already struggling is now very apparent. The reason they lasted this long was solely due to donations, but now, they cannot sustain themselves solely on this and are falling dramatically.

Good News:

• Hospitalizations have remained stable from yesterday to today.

• Starting in March 30th, Loudoun County will host a free drive-thru COVID-19 testing every Tuesday from 10AM to 1PM through April 27th. • A judge in NY has ruled that all prisoners must receive the vaccine ASAP. This could set a positive precedence and model for other states to follow.

Not So Good News:

• We had 47 new cases today, making the new total 25,136.

• A new death has been reported, making the total 269.

• In Texas, lines for vaccines are very long and the process of getting one is arduous (to say the least). This is because they have extended eligibility to take it to reach all adults, causing a massive clog. This proves that our situation is one that cannot be rushed or forced. It takes patience and time.

Good News:

• 1/3 of all US adults have received at least one vaccine dose. 

Not So Good News:

• We had 87 new cases today, allowing Loudoun County to surpass a grim milestone of 25,000 cases with the exact total being 25,011.

• Four more people got hospitalized today making the total hospitalizations: 943. 

• Three new deaths were reported, making the new total 268.

Good News:

• Pfizer's COVID vaccine is now going through trials for use in people under age 12. 

• President Biden has announced that instead of trying to reach 100 million vaccine shots in his first 100 days, he's going for 200 million. Hopefully, this pans out and we can get back to normal life!

• Loudoun will start to get the first wave of its $80 million from the American Rescue Plan very soon. Board of Supervisors Chair, Phyllis Randall announced that the first wave will be prioritized to fund vaccinations, rental assistance, as well as business and nonprofits assistance.

• No new deaths were reported today. The total remains at 264.

Not So Good News:

• We had a high case increase today of 88 which makes the new total 24,794.

• Two new hospitalizations were reported making total hospitalizations at 932.

• The first cases of the B.1.427 and B.1.429 COVID-19 variants were found in Virginia. These variants were first seen in California. They are variants to be worried about since they allow increased person-to-person transmission.

Governor Northam has announced he will ease more COVID-19 restrictions, specifically in social gatherings, entertainment venues, and recreational sporting events. All of these will go into effect April 1st.

Good News:

• Around 20% of adults in the United States have been fully vaccinated.

• Pfizer has announced they have begun clinical trials for a new oral antiviral COVID-19 drug in the United States.

• For 3 days straight there have been no new deaths, so the total remains at 263.

• Regal Cinemas has announced that they will start to reopen theatres in the US with 500 locations on April 2 with limited capacity.

• The Catalent plant in Indiana has been given the go-ahead from the FDA to start shipping the Johnson and Johnson vaccine which will definitely help with the distribution of this new vaccine.

Not So Good News:

• 46 cases were reported today. The new total is 24,659. As you may be able to see, it seems case increases are slowly, but surely going down.

• 3 new hospitalizations were found today making the new total 927.

• More studies have come out reinforcing what we have already known; If you are vaccinated, you can still get COVID-19. So please everyone stay safe!

CDC and Loudoun county officials advise residents to only do ESSENTIAL TRAVEL during Spring Break as well as CDC saying the drop in hospitalizations could be stalling and it could go up again.

Good News:

• The county has announced they will hold more free drive-thru testing events in April, but only on Tuesdays, instead of Thursdays.

• DoorDash has announced that they will now do same-day deliveries for FDA- approved COVID-19 PCR tests in the United States.

• No new hospitalizations were reported today.

• No new deaths have been reported for two days in a row, meaning the total remains at 263.

• All 65 or older waitlistees in the county have been vaccinated,  meaning there is no longer a 65+ waitlist.

• From the recently passed American Rescue Plan, Loudoun will receive $80 million directly with $62 million going to the seven separate towns in it.

Not So Good News:

• 51 new cases were found today, making the new total 24,603. (Cases aren't increasing like they used to which is good).

• For now five weeks straight, the WHO has reported that there has been an increase in COVID-19 transmission.

Good News:

• In just over 59 days, the USA has administered over 100 million shots. 2.5 million are being administered each day.

• The VA COVID hospitalization rate is at its lowest in over 5 months.

Not So Good News:

• Pakistan’s prime minister has gotten coronavirus two days after his first vaccine dose. This proves that one dose doesn't make anyone immune to COVID, and even during the period between the first one and the next, we must be careful.

• Despite the large vaccine gap for localities and nations abroad, drug companies are defending the vaccine monopolies. Due to this, major countries with large populations have less of the vaccine, contributing to a wider spread of it.

• We have had 1 death since yesterday for a total of 263. Due to VDH's data mismanagement, the numbers have been strange for the past week.

• There have been 4 new hospitalizations since yesterday, taking the total to 922. 

• There has been a 59 increase in cases since yesterday, taking the total to 24,491.

Good News:

• The Department of Health and Human Services has injected 10 billion dollars into school COVID testing.

• Europe has begun to reuse the Astra Zeneca vaccine after stopping use earlier.

• There has been a massive 137 increase in cases since yesterday, taking the total to 24,345.

• There have been 2 new deaths since yesterday, taking the total to 266.

• There have been 4 new hospitalizations since yesterday, taking the total to 917.

• There have been no new deaths since yesterday.

• Loudoun has established plans for new mental health crisis centers for younger people.

• In order to quell vaccine fears, more and more public figures are getting the vaccine, including religious leaders.

• There have been 58 new cases since yesterday, taking the total to 24,060.

• There have been 2 new hospitalizations since yesterday, taking the total to 908.

Good News:

• There have been no new deaths for two days keeping the total at 264.

• Health officials are stating that we may return to a more normal state by the summer, including fewer masks and relaxed social distancing.

• There have been 66 new cases since yesterday, taking the total to 23, 928.

• There have been 3 new hospitalizations since yesterday taking the total to 904. 

Good News:

• In a recent press release LCPS announced that they are planning on full in-person learning for 2021-2022, and that there will be remedial summer programs (i.e., summer school). Of course, those programs will not be mandated at all and based completely on a volunteer basis.

• Loudoun County has added a change to the rent assistance program, where more people are eligible to access it. 

• To monitor your place in line to get vaccines, as well as checking how Loudoun County has been doing in administering them, they have released a website called COVID-19 Vaccine Data Dashboard.

Not So Good News:

• We have a total of 23,782 COVID-19 cases today, a 67 case increase.

• Six people have been hospitalized since yesterday, taking the total to 900.

• The total COVID-19 death count has increased by two, taking us to a total of 264.

Good News:

• Congress has passed the stimulus bill today! The 1.9 Trillion dollar plan was aimed at boosting the economy and keeping jobs propped up.

• 8% of all of Loudoun County is completely vaccinated.

• The 7-day positivity rate is now 6.6%, meaning that only around 7 people out of every 100 had COVID-19 when they tested for it.

Not So Good News:

• Our case total is now 23,641, a 52 case difference from yesterday. Stay safe!

• The total COVID-19 death count has increased by one, taking us to a total of 260.

• The hospitalization count is up by two, making the total 884. 

Good News: 

• There have been no new deaths since yesterday.

• There is a free virtual meeting to understand mental illness, called Loudoun County Mental Health First Aid training. Adult classes are March 16 and 17, and childrens classes are 19th and 26th.

Good News:

• Loudoun County has administered over 82,898 doses of vaccines, and has 27,505 people that have received both doses of vaccine and are completely immune. This means that about 6% of Loudoun County's 16+ community is immune to COVID-19.

• Loudoun County has started giving appointments to following priority groups who submitted pre-registrations on January 25: Health care workers, police officers, fire-fighters, homeless shelter workers, people age 65, and people age 16-64 with health conditions.

• If vaccination continues its rate and everyone offered a vaccine takes it, the USA could reach herd immunity by late summer.

• There's been an 80 case increase since yesterday, making the total 23,352.

• Deaths have increased by two, to reach 252.

Good News:

• Loudoun is bringing the K-6 Learning Child Care Program to Lovettsville Elementary School starting next Monday, making it easier for parents that need someone to take care of their kids.

• The U.S. has now reached the 7-day average of more than 2 million vaccines administered for the first time.

Not So Good News:

• A smaller, but significant 38 case increase was reported. The new total is 23,221.

• Three new deaths were found making the new total 249.

• Hospitalizations are now at 878. This is a six-man increase from yesterday.

• Job growth in the U.S. fell far below expectations in February. It was expected that we would gain 225,000, instead, we only gained 117,000.

Good News:

• Virginians will be able to receive the new Johnson and Johnson vaccine next week. The state will receive exactly 69,000 doses.

• The easing of COVID-19 restrictions we have spoken about for the past week went into effect today.

• The statewide vaccine pre-registration system that launched in February is starting to resolve glitches in the system allowing for more efficient vaccinations.

• The FDA has granted emergency authorization for another at-home COVID-19 antigen test.

Not So Good News:

• Exactly 50 cases were found today making the new total 23,126.

• Deaths went up another staggering amount of 8. The new total is 237.

• Hospitalizations went up by 2 making the total 865.

• The United States has had around a 30% decrease in testing since January.

Good News:

• The FDA has cleared the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine (only requiring one dose instead of two). This gives the U.S. three vaccines.

• President Biden's $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill passed the House of Representatives and will now be moving to the Senate.

• The new COVID stimulus bill is proposing 1,400 dollars. Congress wants the bill to be pushed by mid-March.

• There have been 54 new cases since yesterday, taking the total to 22,873.

• A new COVID variant was found in New York and scientists are worried about its potential to not be attacked by the immune system.

• Multiple different COVID variants have been showing up in recent days, but most have not aroused worry in experts.

• More and more vaccines are being produced, with the White House stating that they would up the number of vaccine shipments to states. There will now be 14.5 million vaccines shipped out, an increase of one million.

Not So Good News:

• There have been 50 new cases since yesterday, taking the total to 22,762.

• There have been 3 new deaths since yesterday, taking the total to 205.

• There have been 3 new hospitalizations since yesterday making the total 835

Good News:

• A growing list of companies, such as Publix, are now offering incentives if their workers get vaccinated.

• Vaccination sites around the country are starting to make up the vaccinations they missed from the snow at a rapid pace.

• LCPS will now adopt new changes concerning racial prejudice in its schools. An important change is in the dress code where Nazi and confederate symbols are now identified as "racially hostile".

Not So Good News:

• There have been 4 new deaths since yesterday making the total 200.

• There have been 71 new cases since yesterday taking the total to 22,654.

• There has been one new hospitalization since yesterday taking the total to 831.

• Deaths domestically hit a sad milestone of 500,000.

Good News:

• We have a three-day streak of no new deaths.

• Another mass, free drive-thru testing event is scheduled for February 24th along with the other small-scale testing events every Thursday and Tuesday.

• A CDC report has found that the current public vaccines are safe and it's rare to experience side effects.

• N.C.A.A. announced today that basketball tournaments will welcome back some fans specifically 25% stadium capacity for the tournaments at Indianapolis and 17% stadium capacity at San Antonio. If you go remember to stay safe!

• 81 cases were found today. A stark contrast from the smaller increases from previous days. This increase makes the total case count 22,486.

• Hospitalizations are now at 830. This is a 2 man increase from yesterday.

Good News:

• There have been no new deaths today, the total remains at 195.

• Dentists and medical students can now also give out the COVID vaccine in an effort to speed up the total vaccinations.

Not So Good News:

• There have been 64 new cases since yesterday, taking the total to 22,351.

• There have been 4 new hospitalizations since yesterday, taking the total to 822.

Good News:

• No new deaths have been reported for three days in a row keeping the total at 193.

• No new hospitalizations were reported for two days straight. The total remains at 815.

• Novavax has announced that their scientists have now begun testing a new version of their COVID-19 vaccine for the South African variant.

Not So Good News:

• Cases went up by 60 making the new total 22,246.

Good News:

• After numerous new deals for doses and expediting current ones with vaccine companies such as Pfizer, the US will have 600 million vaccines by around July. This is enough to support around 90% of the population. 

• After 100 days, the United States is now averaging fewer than 100,000 cases a day. Hopefully, this trend continues.

• No new deaths were reported today keeping the total at 193.

Not So Good News:

• 95 new cases were found today making the new total 22,102.

• 1 new hospitalization was found today making the new total 815.

• The British government has found that the UK COVID variant is "likely" more deadly. 

• The WHO has found that people can be reinfected with COVID through the new variants meaning even if you had it before, you can get it again.

Good News:

• A study by the CDC has found that double masking improves the fit of the mask on your face, thus protecting you and others further. So if you can, please double mask!

• The death count is actually 190 instead of 191. There was a glitch that gave one extra "recorded death" to us. To add, there are no new deaths today either.

• NBC News has launched 'Plan Your Vaccine', a program which helps give information on everything regarding the vaccine for you. For example, you can know when and how you can get your vaccine.

• The White House has finalized a deal with Pfizer for an additional 200 million vaccines. 

Not So Good News:

• The new total is 21,897. This is an 89 case increase.

• The new hospitalization count is 808. This is a 10 more than yesterday.

• A new study finds that mostly black nursing homes are having more than 3 times COVID-19 deaths compared to mostly white nursing homes.

• The Department of Homeland Security is investigating mass cases of mask fraud specifically N95 masks. Everyone, please make sure you're not getting scammed! 

Good News:

• As we covered in the Fairfax update, CVS pharmacies will now provide vaccines for people who are eligible according to Phase B vaccinations across the state.  CVS started in Loudoun this week.

• The number of cases declined 17% globally with this the fourth week in a row of cases declining according to the WHO. 

• Another free-drive thru testing event is taking place on February 11th.

• The FDA has approved a new version of the Eli Lilly and Co's antibody COVID treatment.

Not So Good News:

• 159 new cases today, making the new total 21,723.

• The no death streak has ended with one new death today making the new total 189.

• Hospitalizations are now at 793.

• A study has found that people with dementia are twice as likely to get COVID-19 along with being more likely to be hospitalized and die.

• The House of Representatives and the Senate have approved measures to allow the President's $1.9 trillion stimulus plan which means stimulus is coming sooner rather than later.

• The Governor has clarified his statements on summer school, stating that summer school for students wouldn't be mandatory.

• The US has started a ban on travelers from South Africa which will hopefully reduce the spread of the South African COVID variant.

• The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors created a lease for a location at the Dulles Town Center to operate a COVID-19 vaccination disposal area.

• There have been a whopping 580 case increase since yesterday, bringing the massive total to 18,151. Experts say that this massive uptick is showing up in data late, and this accounts for the huge case spike in holiday season.

• President-elect Joe Biden will be sworn into office tomorrow.

• There have been 312 new cases since yesterday, taking the total to 17,326.

• Multiple reports have come out that the state of Virginia is behind others when it comes to vaccine injections.

• Loudoun County is now opening up a third vaccination site.

• The President-elect recently unveiled a $1.9 trillion relief package which would include $1400 stimulus checks. This would still need to pass Congress once he becomes President.

• There have been a record-breaking 392 cases found. This is one of the highest case increases ever recorded for Loudoun.

There were reports of a new variant that was created in the United States, those reports have been debunked. There is no "USA Variant"

• Loudoun along with 10 other health districts will start Phase 1b vaccinations next week.

• Pfizer and individual reporting have found that so far the Pfizer vaccine works against one of the main mutations from the UK and South Africa variant.

• 82 new cases were reported today. The new total is 15,368.

• There was 1 new hospitalization making the total 668.

• Global cases have surpassed 90 million nearing a whopping 100 million cases

• Loudoun has announced new thresholds for bringing students back to school. As long as the threshold falls below the highest risk level for 5 straight days, hybrid learning will be enacted.

• President elect Joe Biden will likely be certified as the next president by congress, even after the capitol was breached.

• There have been 3 new hospitalizations since yesterday, making the total 657.

• Supporters of President Trump broke into the capitol building today while protesting the election results. During the riots, one woman was shot and killed, and thousands of national guard have been deployed to DC. 

• Governor Northam has put in a curfew from 6 PM to 6 AM in order to stem the effects from the DC riots.

Good News:

• For 3 days straight, there are no new hospitalizations or deaths.

• An additional $20 million were allocated to the Rebuild VA economic recovery fund which will aid more than 300 other small businesses and non-profits.

Not So Good News:

• 51 new cases were reported today making the new total 14,569. A relatively small amount of cases compared to other days, but still significant.

• COVID-19 hospitalizations domestically are now the highest it has ever been with a total of 128,210.

Good News:

• The WHO has approved the Pfizer vaccine. This doesn't affect the US, but countries that don't have their own "FDA" use the WHO for approval. Those countries can now start using the vaccine.

• 129 new cases were found today making the new total 14,481.

• The United States has now surpassed 20 million cases.

• The President has signed the COVID relief bill, which also contained the rest of the funding for the government so there will be no government shutdown this year.

• The federal government will begin talks to fund even more stimulus checks along with the ones currently in the new COVID relief.

• Congress has sent the COVID relief bill to the president's desk, however, he will most likely not sign it, demanding for 2,000$ checks rather than 600$ ones (as in the current bill).

• Loudoun County has surpassed 13,000 cases (13,082). The cases have increased by 157.

• The stimulus bill could face difficulties as President Trump wants congress to amend the bill by increasing the amount of stimulus given from 600 to 2,000 dollars. Congress has prepared to override the president if he does end up vetoing the bill. This could result in a government shutdown.

Good News:

• The no new death streak continues into its 4th day.

• The Moderna vaccine is moments away from gaining authorization, as the FDA panel has approved its use. The next step is just officially approving it.

• A 900 billion dollar COVID relief bill is expected in the coming days.

• There has been an increase in cases by 104 since yesterday, taking the total to 12,297.

• There has been 1 new death since yesterday, making the total 155.

• FDA has just stated that they believe that the Moderna vaccine is highly effective. Authorization of this particular vaccine could happen by the end of this week (the vaccine that has just been authorized was the pfizer vaccine, not the moderna one).

• The FDA has just approved the first COVID test that one can take at home.

• The case count since yesterday has increased by 92. This makes the total cases 12,029.

• There have been 11 new hospitalizations since yesterday, taking the total to 595.

• Today marks a 5 day streak of no new deaths.

• The CDC has now approved the vaccines for 16 and 17 year olds.

• Due to a large spike in cases, new lockdowns will be put into place starting Monday. The restrictions include a curfew order from midnight to 5 am except in the case of essential travel.

• After a large spike in COVID cases, governor Ralph Northam has decided to release new restrictions to curb the spike. These new restrictions will be updated on Thursday.

• Loudoun county is getting very close to halting hybrid learning plans and going back to distance learning due to a massive spike in cases and certain metrics.

• There have been some allergic reactions observed in the UK after the administering of the Pfizer vaccine. This may delay the FDA's approval of the Pfizer vaccine. 

Good News:

• There has been a 2-day streak of no new hospitalizations. The total remains at 570.

• There is now a 3-day streak of no new deaths. The total remains at 150.

Not So Good News:

• There have been 197 new cases since yesterday, making the total 10,832.

• We are getting very close to hitting the case trigger to cancel the plans for hybrid learning. If this keeps up, there won't be any hybrid learning this year

• Students around the nation are staggering in math and science by many months. Non-white students are stagnating by 2-3 months more compared to whites 

Good News:

• A 2-day streak has started for no new deaths.

• The $908 billion bipartisan stimulus bill we mentioned is now gaining steam with democratic leaders in Congress starting to use it for negotiations as well President-Elect Joe Biden starting to support it.

• The FDA has approved the first emergency use of a combined COVID and Flu test for at-home sample collection

• There was a whopping 112 case increase to a total of 10,557.

• Only 245,000 jobs were added in November which was a very low number even during this Pandemic.

• Though there has been a lot of partisan fights for a stimulus bill, a new bipartisan group of senators has unveiled a $908 billion stimulus plan.

• The county is hosting more testing events on Dec 8th and 13th.

• The NFL is starting to ramp up their financial and competitive disciplines for COVID. Most recently, the Patriots were fined $350,000 for protocol violations and the Saints were fined $500,000 and had a seventh-round pick docked due to a maskless celebration.
