Sometimes, you will be able to apply for a high rank of the SunKin, RainKin, or SkyKin. However, this can be a bit overwhelming - after all, there’s hundreds of words of lore to consume not only for each clan, but Noctus and its history as a whole. This is a guide/FAQ to help you get started. This will be updated as asks are answered and time goes on.

☆ 1. What are high ranks?
For this application period, high ranks are leaders and moonspeakers. Six characters total will be accepted: three leaders and three moonspeakers, one of each for each clan. Refer to this page for more info on these roles.
☆ 2. What about deputies?
Deputies will not be applied for during this period. However, if you apply as a leader and your character is not accepted, they may qualify as one of three deputy candidates. Keep a hold of your sheet, reformat them to be of a lower rank, and resubmit them during the OC application period. You will have the option to check a box that asks whether you would like your character to qualify as a deputy candidate.
The same is to be said for moonspeakers. If you are not accepted as a moonspeaker, you may be eligible to be a moonspeaker tyro instead. This will also be on the OC application form.
☆ 3. How did my character become the leader or moonspeaker?
For leaders and the RainKin moonspeaker applications, Sunstar, Rainstar, Fenmoon, or Skystar must have been the previous holder of your role depending on the clan. That means your character became the SunKin, SkyKin, or Rainkin leader or moonspeaker immediately after the Conflict of Noctus, and for these five roles, you must have been either the deputy or Fenmoon’s tyro.
Knowing what you know about the Origin Four, write your backstory in a way that justifies them being picked as deputy/moonspeaker by these characters. Feel free to ask me, Beowulf, any questions about these characters if you need further clarification.
☆ 4. How about the original SunKin and SkyKin moonspeakers?
Assume both of these characters died in Noctus before or during the Conflict of Noctus. You were their tyro before their death. You may do one of the following:
1. Use the characters below as the first moonspeakers for each of these clans.
Honeyglaze - The original SunKin moonspeaker. They were a lesser roadrunner gryphon. Honeyglaze was very witty and impatient.
Sparkfeather - The original SkyKin moonspeaker. They were a black falcon gryphon. Sparkfeather was very shy and caring.
2. Make up the first moonspeaker for each of these clans. I am making this an option in case you would like your character to have a specific influence not seen in option 1’s characters.
☆ 5. How about the original SunKin, RainKin, and SkyKin deputies?
There was one deputy before you who passed away. You replaced this deputy before the Conflict of Noctus began. Sunstar, Rainstar, or Skystar chose you as deputy once the previous one died. You may make up a previous deputy or leave them out entirely, as they are not as important compared to the moonspeaker.
☆ 6. Are there any species, age, gender, etc. requirements?
Your high rank character must be born at least 20 moons before the Conflict of Noctus, which began on Moon 96 A.N. As of Moon 159 A.N. (the moon in which the RP will begin), this would make your character at least 82 moons old. The oldest your character can be is 140 moons.
☆ 7. Do these ranks have any special requirements otherwise?
Longer, more detailed sheets may be favored over shorter, simpler sheets. However, this does not mean that a literate writer, which typically write more than semi-lit writers, is guaranteed to become leader or moonspeaker! Semi-literate writers are still encouraged to apply. Regardless of writing skill, the things that are treasured most are care for the character and attention to Noctus’s lore.
☆ 8. Can I apply as a mod and a high rank?
Yes! However, please note the workload that comes with being a server moderator and a high rank. I am personally too busy to be a high rank, which is why I am leaving it to applicants.
☆ 9. What if a leader or moonspeaker position isn’t filled?
I’ll be leaving that unfilled position open during the OC application period. If the OC application period ends with no accepted applicants for the unfilled position, I will approach people who either checked “qualify as deputy candidate” or applied for a moonspeaker tyro if they would like to be promoted to that role. If I still don’t get a hit, I’ll take that role over.
