Because gryphons are slightly more intelligent and dexterous than cats, they are capable of more handsy things like building nests, creating armor, and forging weapons. During trade, many things can be bought for prey or materials of the same value.
Below is a list and instructions for artisans. Please note that artisans don't have fire.
☆ Twine - Twine is a simple material that gryphons have managed to create. Made of tendons, sinew, and hair collected from prey, twine is an essential that is accessible in every clan. During the hunting process, hunters are responsible for creating the twine that they give to artisans.
☆ Buckets - Gryphons are capable of building crude buckets that can transport water, poultices, or other liquid. They are usually made of hollowed-out coconuts, which are found near the beaches of Noctus on palm trees. Sometimes, they are made of dried hide and twine. The handles are made of branches or twine.
☆ Sled - To transport trade loads, gryphons, or other items, sleds are created out of twine, Penghou blood, slabs of tree bark, and other materials depending on the artisan's preference. The slabs are tied together with the twine, reinforced with Penghou blood, and are then dragged or carried by the beak with twine like a bridle. Sometimes, materials for these can be stolen from Shiredin. It's not recommended, though.
☆ Nests - Though the exact materials can depend on the clan, most nests follow the same format. It is built with thick sticks and branches. During the process, it is padded with mud, Penghou tree blood, leaves, and moss in an outward spiral until it is properly nest-sized. They're pretty cozy!
☆ Armor - Again, this depends on the clans. Most artisans will go to RainKin or SunKin artisans and exchange prey, twine, Penghou tree blood, or twoleg materials found in the territories for the valuable bunyip hide. The same goes for the SunKin sand worm hide, which is nearly as impenetrable. The hide of either bunyip or sand worm is formed into plates using sharpened stone blades to cut through the hide and tied together with twine after being fitted for warriors. Warriors usually help with making armor. Plesiosaur hide is also good for armor, as are manticore stinger plates!
☆ Paint - Yes, gryphons can crudely paint! Paint is traded throughout Noctus and anybody can use it or create it, not just artisans. Most of the pigments are simple, like red pigment coming from SunKin's Painted Valley or green pigments coming from crushed leaves. They are used to decorate armor, feathers, fur, nests, weapons, and many other objects. The binding agent for paint is animal fat and tree sap.
☆ Jewelry - If a gryphon can make armor, they can make jewelry. Feel free to ask if your artisan can make jewelry for either themselves or clanmates using whatever material you'd think they find. Please note that Native American adornments - like headdresses or feathers behind the ear - are banned.
☆ Weapons - Weapons heavily vary:
Unicorn and kirin horns can be embedded in armor or attached to twine and act as a very dangerous headband.
Carcohl snail poison can be applied to the claws to deal an especially deadly blow.
Manticore stingers can be kept after death as extra armor and a pointy, poisonous thing!
Basilisk teeth are a great thing to embed in armor for extra protection.
Kirin fins are good for aerodynamics and dealing a little extra sting.
Anything else you can think of; run it by the staff and it can probably happen! This will affect injury and battle rolls!
