SafeSittings is a babysitting service that connects parents of children with Type 1 Diabetes with babysitters who have Type 1 Diabetes or have experience with Type 1 Diabetes. It is a free service, and babysitting fees are negotiated between the sitter and the family.
Camp Kudzu is a non-profit organization that focuses on programming for children and teenagers living with Type 1 Diabetes. Programming includes summer camps, day camps, family camps, teen retreats, and special events.
The current Americans with Disabilities Act regulations as they apply to state and local government services and public accommodations and commercial facilities.
The American Diabetes Association works toward "fund[ing] research to prevent, cure and manage diabetes...deliver[ing] services to hundreds of communities...[and] giv[ing] voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes". [1]
The College Diabetes Network is a "non-profit organization whose mission is singularly focused on providing young adults with T1D the peer connections they value, and expert resources they need, to successfully manage the challenging transition to independence at college and beyond". [2]
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation "is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research". The organization has an "exclusive focus and singular influence on the worldwide effort to end T1D". [3]
The Diabetes Patient Advocacy Coalition is "an alliance of people with diabetes, caregivers, patient advocates, health professionals, disease organizations and companies working collaboratively to promote and support public policy initiatives to improve the health of people with diabetes...to ensure the safety and quality of medications, devices, and services; and access to care for all 30.3 million Americans with diabetes". The diaTribe Foundation seeks to unite "industry, healthcare providers, the government, and non-profits...to improve patient outcomes", as well as aid society in "recogniz[ing] the importance of the emotional as well as the physical aspects of [diabetes]". Additionally, the organization "aim[s] to influence the national conversation, bringing the patient point of view to the FDA and to other policy makers, improving diabetes literacy in the media, and convening the world’s brightest minds to develop innovative solutions".
