When I first became a mom, I thought I had it all figured out.
You know⌠the Pinterest boards, the expectations, the quiet little voice saying:
âThis is what a good mom does.â
But somewhere between the snack requests, the laundry piles, and the 47th âmommmmâ of the day⌠I realized something important:
đ A lot of the things I thought mattered⌠really donât.
And letting them go?
Game. Changer. đ
At one point, I thought a clean house meant I was doing a good job.
Now?
If the kids are laughing, the dishwasher is running, and no one is stuck to the floor⌠weâre winning đ
Because the truth is:
⨠Memories > spotless countertops
⨠Living > impressing
I used to stress about coordinating outfits, perfect photos, and âlooking put together.â
Meanwhile⌠my kids just wanted to play.
Now youâll find us:
mismatched âď¸
slightly chaotic âď¸
actually enjoying the moment âď¸
And honestly? Those are the photos I love the most đ
Birthday party? Yes.
School event? Yes.
Extra activity? Yes, yes, yesâŚ
Until burnout said: absolutely not.
Now Iâve learned:
đ Itâs okay to say no
đ Itâs okay to protect your time
đ Itâs okay if your kid doesnât do everything
Because a calm mom is way more valuable than an overbooked one.
Did I once think every meal needed to be balanced, organic, and Instagram-worthy?
Yep đ
Now?
Some days itâs homemade.
Some days itâs⌠survival mode.
And guess what?
My kids are still growing, thriving, and asking for snacks 24/7.
I thought good moms were the ones who:
stayed organized
never forgot things
had a plan for everything
But real life looks more like:
âWait, was today spirit day?â
âDid I sign that form?â
âWhat even is for dinner?â
And somehow⌠it still works.
I used to think more activities, more things, more âextrasâ meant I was giving my kids more.
But what they actually remember?
đ movie nights
đ silly moments
đ time together
Not the price tag.
This one took the longest to let go of.
Because the truth is⌠there is no perfect mom.
Thereâs just:
showing up
loving your kids
doing your best (even on the messy days)
And that?
Thatâs more than enough.
Letting go of these things didnât make me a âlesserâ momâŚ
It made me a lighter one.
More present.
More patient.
More able to actually enjoy this wild, beautiful chaos.
⨠So if youâve been holding yourself to impossible standardsâŚ
Consider this your permission slip to let some of it go.
Which one hit home for you?
Or whatâs something YOUâve let go of as a mom?
Tell meâI promise youâre not the only one đ đ
