This is where I post random(ish) stuff, updates, and general thoughts.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the avatar of health.
The only time I ever watched my weight was as it grew alongside my paunch and I only ever counted calories on the way to infinity.
But when I was diagnosed with diabetes, it came as something of a shock, and it weighed pretty hard on my mind.
I knew, logically, that of course it was a possible outcome of my eating habits, even a likely outcome, but it was always down the road, always in the future. But like the future so often likes to do, it became the present for a moment and then immediately the past. It has become my new reality.
But I choose to look at it in a positive light: I have been issued a new and exciting challenge to meet and overcome, and for the better. My intent isn't to lose a ton of weight. Besides, I don't think it's physically possible for me to weigh -1770 lbs.
Neat. So what does that mean for my humble little cooking blog here?
Well, considering that I am am part of my test audience, I kinda have to be careful about what I put in my face now. I might still dabble with sugar, butter, fats, and white flour (among many, many other things I now gotta cut out of my diet), but it's going to be to a considerably smaller degree than what I did before.
I also don't have a lab, so I can't (unfortunately) include handy nutritional information you see on some cooking websites. If I find a workaround to that, I'll definitely use it, but don't hold your breath. Don't want you to pass out on my account. . .
