We believe that everyone deserves deep & meaningful learning, including adults. These experiences elicit a state of flow— a level of engagement that draws learners into compelling & complex cognition that diminishes distractions & infuses the experience with personal investment.
When we intentionally create learning experiences that are designed fortransfer—the act of taking acquired knowledge forward to understand & solve problems in new contexts—we support this cognition, which goes deeper than fact-absorbing to truly engage the critical & creative process ofmaking meaning.
WHY IT MATTERS
One of the chief aims of PD for educators is modeling instructional practices. Regardless of content, PD should create opportunities for teachers to witness & transfer effective instructional practices to their classrooms.
We believe that deeper learning in PD means cultivating this transfer process— by purposefully aligning the learning that teachersexperience& the learning they are called toenactin their own classrooms.
By building a framework of critical perspectives & resources in an accessible & approachable model,we hope to empower practitioners to reflect & redesigntheir PD to foster instructional depth for meaningful adult learning. As more educators experience deeper learning, they will transferit to their classrooms & shift their teaching in ways that create deeper learning for their students, too.
