Current political climate in the United States

Leaders have huge influence on actions: Trump and the rise of hate crimes

-Heated rhetoric and ideas from those in positions of power can resonate or inspire people to commit actions because they see it as acceptable if someone in power guides them

-August 2017, when white-supremacists and counter protesters fought in Charlottesville, Virginia, Trump responded by saying that there were, “very fine people on both sides”-reported hate crimes nationally increased to 663 incidents, the second-highest tally in nearly a decade

-Not caring of shunning this behavior hurts more because it’s allowed to continue and considered to be normal

-When Trump was elected in 2016, hate crimes grew to a national 758 reported incidents

-After the San Bernardino shooting in 2015, Trump called for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United states” until lawmakers “can figure out what the hell is going on”-Next ten days, reported hate crimes against Muslims and Arabs nationwide rose 23%

Government oppression of minorities

China has been creating internment camps that are “re-educating” the Muslim minority groups in their country.
The Chinese government is claiming that this is all a hoax and that it was not happening at all…
Then they eventually said that the caps did exist but they were for the re-education of Muslim’s for decreasing Muslim extremists and therefore intern terrorism.
They have prevented further investigation by outside agencies including the human rights groups, news agencies and foreign governments.

Current Political Climate Globally

Immigration and increasing numbers of hate crimes and terrorism

Germany as well as many other European regions have increased their border security and have made their immigration laws more strict due to a massive influx of middle eastern immigrants in recent years
There has been an influx of terrorist attacks in recent years from extremist groups in many parts of the world
Europe has recently seen some of the sharpest increase in terrorist attacks
- Due to increased terrorist attacks, European countries have increased islamophobia against mosques and other muslim places of living and worship
- This stark increase in Islamophobia stems from their belief that Europeans are of the white race, and thus belong to the historical christian and white identity of Europe. So, they believe that Islams and other minorities have no place in Europe.
This article talks about the global rise of hate crimes in recent years
Especially towards Islamic groups throughout the world
It also addresses the things that are being done by the governments of these countries
