Thursday 20th April
We met down at the scout den
All seventeen of us
We got our shirts, packed the trailer
And drove off in the bus
We had KFC for dinner
Then drove to the scout den
Many dislocated some limbs
And some hung from the beams like "men"
Friday 21st April
In the morning we drove on
Bus games were the go
Although we had a campfire
Skit preparation was low
We arrived at Rocky Caravan Park
Set up tents and ate for the night
And then the campfire was lit
And it was a beautiful sight
When I look at today's skits
I feel they're lacking a lot
Probably all five minute jobs
Although ours was definitely not
Jay and Grammar's was quite odd
Greek yelling and a tree
But there were shouts for an encore
And it was a hilarious sight to see
Jaq and Alicia did a dance
A new 'Bardot' song
But then Jaq got the giggles
And the entire skit went wrong
Jim, Aron, Fred, Gil and Legs
Delivered a well-known skit
The one with the line of guys
And the 'Seiko' watch bit?
Ours was super, fantastic
Prepared and rehearsed indeed
It entertained us at least
What more could we ever need?
Saturday 22nd April
We awoke bright and cheery
Despite the rain's arrival
We packed the tents and off we went
Uncertain of our survival
The caves deep in the mountain
On the stomach one must slither
We felt quite claustrophobic
But there was no time to dither
We continued on the road
Our destination was Mackay
It was wet and we were cold
To say we were comfy would be a lie
To sleep in we had dorms
And it was our Triple M night
Movies and Macca's in Mackay
" We were all a scary sight
Sunday 23rd April
The next morning it was Easter!
And to church we all did leave
But I think what was most enjoyed
Was the food we did receive
Our journey was not over yet
We aimed for Airlie Beach
We arrived in rain and unpacked
North Molle we were yet to reach
We took a little boat over
That was …maybe dinghy size?
If I said it was a smooth ride
It would once again be lies
Grammar and Ben made a bet
Five dollars was the cost
It was about the rain
After 10 minutes, Grammar lost.
That night the rain continued
So we all retired to bed
In the morning it hadn't ceased
Just as Ben had said
Monday 24th April
Jay and Lego were digging
Out in the pouring rain
Everyone else was talking
And Tony was being a pain
Lego began a sun-dance
To drive the rain away
Except the rain came back
And then decided to stay
Everyone was being lazy
Lounging under the shelter
Looking out bleakly into the rain
As it continued to pelter
That night after dinner
Our tent, it blew away
Up and out of the ground
So the guys went to save the day
Our tents they were flooded
By the pouring rain
Ours was drenched right through
It drove us quite insane
Tuesday 25th April
The treasure hunt had started
Indeed the race was on
With merely a compass and scroll
We were soon off and we were gone
'Twas not very long
Before we all were lost
And yet we kept on trekking
No matter what the cost
We finally found the treasure
Buried beneath my feet
But it was just too late
Alas our team was beat
The pineapple rings were hung
And off the rope they had to be eaten
It was hard for all who tried
Unfortunately, we were beaten
Next challenge was a course
Which we had to battle through
It included trestles, water and seats
Which of course all courses do
Another aspect was costumes
Aron had stickers upon his head
Lego was just quite odd
"Wanna buy a watch?" Ben often said
James was a Cuban cigar lord
Often smoking, as you would
He played the part quite well
With his frequent "looking good"
Wednesday 26th April
The rain it was still wet
As often is the case
We had to pack our bags
It was time to leave home base
We awaited the boat's arrival
It seemed to take a while
When he finally did show up
It was time to leave the isle
Back on mainland Australia
More putting up of wet tents
We did rather a lot of yelling
And most people took offence
(We apologise now for any inconvenience brought on by this behaviour)
We found an ingenious invention
You may have heard of it before
It's what you call a drying machine
It was brilliant! Of this I am sure
Thursday 27th April
That day we did a tour
Of the ocean down below
It was then scuba dooba diving
Fast became the go
We then did snokorkelling
After our seven metre dive
The fish were rather unnerving
And very much alive
We also did some shopping
At Daydream island resort
Unfortunately it was rather expensive
Eventually all I had was naught
That evening Bungy did leave us
Back to Brisbane he did go
He was driving in Banana Bash
How he went we do not know
(So how did you go??)
Friday 28th April
Our next camp site was a flooded
So we headed for Rocky that night
We chose to stay a little longer
So our tents remained upright
On our way we bought bandannas
Which soon became the look
Worn here by model Jacqui
In a photo Scott cunningly took
As headlights we used mag lights
As wheels we used our feet
As a car and a phantom motorbike
We terrorised the street
Saturday 29th April
"Where's Yeppoon?" Scott asked
And then replied "Next to yer knife"
This was a pathetic joke
Which…annoyed the hell out of us
We went shopping again today
Of rain, there was not much
It was a pleasant change
We did enjoy the sun's warm touch
That evening we had a party
To celebrate Jac's 15th year
When the cake was brought out
The crowd responded with a cheer
After the cake and dinner
We had a fierce game
It was scary, it was nerve racking
For these players were not tame
Jailbreak it was called
And left many injured or hurt
You had to be on guard
You were always at the alert
Because if you failed to be so
(Ask Fred - who has already tried)
"Attacked by a guy rope you may be"
Said Fred, who quite nearly died
Sunday 30th April
We arrived at Bundy, the land of Rum
We would spend our last night here
It began to rain once more
Our destination was now quite near
We went to see a tour
Of where Bundy rum is made
But when it came to testing
We got gypped with lemonade
That night after dinner
It was Uno we did play
Game after game after game
The game was jolly good" if I may say!
Monday 1st May
Our final dawn on tour
Rose a long time before us
It was time to pack up the gear
And head home in the bus
And on that very last day
Michael made many a friend
But sadly when the bus drove off
The friendship had to end
As we pulled into the den
Emotions were quite mixed
But in our minds we all did have
Homecoming plans quite fixed
While some wanted hot showers
And with home cooking to be fed
Others simply wanted
Just to sleep in their very own bed
