Deforestation of natural forests is becoming more and more of a problem in Sweden, and actually this is also a big problem across the rest of the world. Our goal is to raise awareness. To reach that goal we developed a game that is easy to learn and even kind of easy to reproduce. By that you can make it accessible for a lot of people.
Our goal is to teach the players about the land-use conflict* in Sweden. It's not about solving the problem but to raise awareness.
By playing the game you will learn about the roles and relations of various stakeholders as well as about the relations between different values.
* A land-use conflict occurs when there are conflicting views on land-use policies, such as when an increasing population creates competitive demands for the use of the land, causing a negative impact on other land uses nearby. (Wikipedia)
To the target group belong young adults (14 to 25 years) that play games mostly for fun. These people need to have a basic interest in tactic and communicative games. Players do not necessarily need to be familiar with the land-use conflict before the game. You can play and win the game even without any previous knowledge. If players already know about the topic, the game can make them discuss it and, for example, change tactics and conversations in the game itself.
The easy to learn game makes it possible to start playing quite fast. By start playing the game you already learn about the topic in total.
