Reaching New Heights

This year, we are ready to Reach New Heights! Our 2026-2027 Faculty Development journey is a three-step climb designed to elevate your teaching:

Summer Institute (Explore): We kick things off by rediscovering "joy" in the classroom. This event is all about exploring pedagogy, collaborating with peers, and reflecting on the strategies that ignite your passion for teaching.
Fall Forum (Discover): Time to get hands-on! You’ll discover the specific tools—from Canvas and AI to NotebookLM and self-care—that work for you. With peer-led sessions, open labs, and evening options, you’ll learn exactly how to weave these innovations into your courses.
Academic Year (Apply): This is where it all comes together. Through "Lunch n’ Learns," one-on-one consultations, and Communities of Practice, we’ll support you as you apply these new strategies in real-time.

By setting our sights on clear, ambitious goals, we elevate our own professional journey and clear the path for our students to reach new heights.

Fall Forum 2026

Get ready to elevate your teaching game as we kick off Fall Forum 2026: Prepare for the Ascent. By intentionally evaluating our work and setting ambitious goals, we create a path for both ourselves and our students to achieve greater academic success. This year’s Fall Forum is all about discovery, providing you the space to find the tools and strategies that resonate with your teaching style and learn how to weave them into your courses.

We have packed the schedule with exciting sessions covering everything from Canvas and AI-inclusive assignment strategies to NotebookLM, accessibility, and even self-care. You can learn directly from your TXWES colleagues and CETL designers through various formats, including one-on-one deep dives, flexible open labs, and evening options for those with busy days. Whether you are looking for a quick CETL Update or want to master a new Newline board, come join us to explore the innovations that will help your classroom reach new altitudes!

Ready to Reach New Heights while you eat? Join our monthly Lunch & Learn sessions—the ultimate "working lunch" that actually works for you! These workshop-style hangouts focus on practical skills, ensuring you walk away with a finished product or the ability to create one yourself in just 30 minutes.

Simply grab your lunch, pack your device, and join us. We’ll dive into hands-on instruction first, leaving the rest of the time to eat, chat, and connect with your colleagues.

Have a specialized skill you’d love to share? We are actively encouraging faculty presenters to lead these sessions and share their expertise!

Let’s turn your lunch break into the most productive part of your month.

Communities of Practice

A Community of Practice (CoP) is a collaborative, peer-led network where faculty members gather regularly to solve shared educational challenges, improve teaching methods, and build collective academic knowledge. By participating, instructors benefit from a common connection and a supportive environment where agendas are driven by participant feedback, allowing for intentional growth that directly impacts both teaching excellence and student success. These groups meet at least three times a semester and require a commitment from at least five participants to "make," ensuring a robust and engaging exchange of ideas.

Writing Boot Camp

These in-person, intensive sessions provide faculty with dedicated time and a collaborative environment to brainstorm, draft, and advance their academic writing projects.

Next Level Teaching

Facilitated by experienced faculty, this group focuses on advanced pedagogy and teaching strategies, allowing participants to collaborate on specific classroom challenges and innovations.

The Adjunct Life

This peer-led group provides a supportive space for adjunct faculty to navigate the semester together, with agendas tailored to timely topics like midterms and finals.
