Report a Public Land Confrontation

Tennessee Streams Access Coalition is seeking the details of any confrontations between private landowners and any one using the river for recreational purposes, such as swimming, fishing, paddling, or even hikers on or near the Obey River. Click Here.

If this form doesn't load, you can use the general response form by clicking here.

Reporting these incidents creates awareness which enables us to continue to fight for public access to all of Tennessee's rivers and streams. Your input is valuable in helping us ensure the ongoing accessibility and protection of these vital natural resources.

What is a Land Owner Confrontation?

Confrontations include face-to-face encounters with landowners or their representatives, signs that attempt to limit your use of the river, or law enforcement involvement, including the threat of prosecution for using the river.

The USACE has listed the many rivers ans streams in Tennessee as Section 10 (Navigable) Waterways, but the State has only recognized a select few as navigable in the court of law, which invites landowners to claim the rivers as private. We need a record of fishing, kayaking and other general use confrontations with landowners to support present and future legal and political actions to confirm public access to these rivers.
