After two weeks with my international classmates, I am glad I had this experience. When I arrived at the university, I didn't know what topic we were going to deal with regarding sustainable development, and I'm glad I worked on a project like this. Personally, I would like to consume less fast fashion, as I had already informed myself about the environmental impact of this industry. I enjoyed working with this group, it was very socially rewarding. I learned a lot, and I really enjoyed the design and graphic design part, maybe I will continue my studies in this field.
The impression I got from the website differs from the experience I have. The feeling I got from the website is that we would go to second hand stores and use the knowledge we get from those stores in our project. On the first day we did go to a second hand store and walk around the city, but after that we have done most of the project from within a classroom. While I wanted to go more outside, sitting and learning in the classroom isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The project itself was at the beginning a bit unclear, but that allowed for freedom. I think that this project is great to learn about how damaging clothing is. The overall workshops show way more then just what happens with the clothing industry. We learned many thing about sustainability as well as what sustainability is
The Summer University was a completely new experience for me. A new city, new people and a different language. I learned a lot and I am surprised how much we managed to do in two weeks. The project was more than overwhelming for me because you get to work in different areas. I was able to apply a lot from my field of design, but I also got insights into strategy and marketing. The project was very diverse and very interesting for me. I learned a lot about sustainable fashion and now have a different view on the whole thing. The collaboration within my team was very pleasant and fun.
I travelled to Östersund without any idea of what to expect from the Circular Design project. For me, the most important thing was that I could do something for the environment. But what awaited me was more than I had ever dreamed of. Designing a completely new concept for a T-shirt was a big step forward for me personally. I was also able to get to know so many new tools and working methods from other countries. Creating a marketing strategy or a tag was also new to me and therefore very exciting. The work during the last two weeks was very intensive and classroom-based. We had many different areas to work on, while other project groups were able to discover the sun and nature. Nevertheless, I am very happy that I was able to work on such a great concept together with four great people and that I did something for sustainability.
This project has been a very interesting experience. Not only for the school project, but to meet new people from other countries. It is always intriguing to learn about other cultures and languages, and I got the privilage to talk about Sweden and help out where I could.
The project itself was informative and you could be very creative in which direction you wanted it to go. I´ve been studying a sustainability course before, and at the Graphic design study at Mid university in Sundsvall sustainability is one of the main cores of the education. This was a great learing experience because it showed another side of the climate crisis which I was not as aware of.
It was a lot of fun creating a whole company with a marketing campain, which was also a new thing for me. I've learned a lot and had a great time doing it.
