Customize Recording Settings

  1. Choose to record full screen or select the area to record

  2. Choose inputs and outputs for the recording

  3. Click Start Recording

Windows:

Quick Tip: Press “F10” to stop a recording, or “F9” to pause/resume a recording.

Mac:

Quick Tip: Press “CMD+OPTION+2” to stop a recording, or “CMD+SHIFT+2” to pause/resume a recording.

Add Titles, Annotations, and Effects

Annotations:

  1. Navigate to Annotations

  2. Select the Type of Annotation

  3. Select the Style and Theme

  4. Drag and Drop the Annotation to the Video


Export

  1. Click the Export button in the Upper Right Corner of the Editor

  2. Select a Destination

Things to Know:

Recording Dimensions: Size of the Recording

Project Dimensions: Size of your canvas via Camtasia

Production Settings: Options for producing the video; includes the size of video


  • Match the recording dimensions with the project and production settings

  • Make sure to scale your recording properly

  • To get the highest quality: Zoom to the original size of the recording (100%) you can always pan around the video to focus on special parts of your recording

Adding Captions

  1. Place playhead at the beginning of the recording

  2. Open Caption Tool

  3. Click Add Caption button

  4. Type your captions in

Removing a Color (Green Screen)

  1. Open video in Camtasia

  2. Drag Remove a Color Effect from the tools panel to the clip/timeline

  3. Open Properties panel

  4. Navigate to Remove a Color Effect and select a color to remove

  5. Adjust the properties as needed

Tolerance: Increase/Decrease range of tints and shades

Softness: Smooth out pixelation and the rough edges

Defringe: Move the slider to make any remaining color less noticeable

Hue: Adjust color to match the background

Invert: Reverse the color removal and hide everything besides the color
