Lab Assistants are trained to present software orientations for TECM courses. Scheduling orientations ahead of time allows our staff to be fully prepared for your class needs.

Software Video Series
The TECM Tech Lab staff are working to present all of our software orientations in a video series for online classes and at-home practice. Completed orientation videos will be posted on the Video Series page. We appreciate your patience as we work to produce quality content to supplement your coursework.

ORIENTATION List
Introductory
These orientations are designed for TECM courses 1500-2700.
Word Team Charter: Students learn to use the Show/Hide Tool, apply and modify Heading styles, generate random text, create numbered and bulleted lists, enter the Footer and add page numbers, and insert and modify figures in MS Word.
Word Resume: Students learn to use MS Word tables to create a resume template, create a custom color, create a custom style, apply styles, and format and edit tables.
Word Report: Students learn to use MS Word features to format an IMRaD report, insert different types of page breaks, utilize different Styles, insert a Table of Contents & Bibliography, insert captions, and insert citations.
Excel Graphs: Students learn to use MS Excel tools and features to create a stacked graph, pie chart, and/or Gantt chart, which are then imported to MS Word with added captions and a table of figures. This orientation is modular and customizable.
Adobe Acrobat PDF Report: Students learn to use Adobe Acrobat to combine files, delete pages, add files, edit pages, add and edit text, and add and edit bookmarks.
Intermediate
These orientations are designed for TECM courses 3010-3550.
Camtasia Screencast: Students learn to use Camtasia tools and features to screencast, import media, edit clips, add effects to the recording, and save the project.
Photoshop Image Editing: Students learn to use Adobe Photoshop tools and features to merge two images into one, adjust various hues and saturations, blend layers, and add text and shapes.
Illustrator Typography: Students learn to use Adobe Illustrator tools and features to apply and modify a grid, apply gradients and gradient sliders, apply effects to text, and offset layers.
Illustrator Logo Design: Students learn to use Adobe Illustrator tools and features to draw shapes, apply swatches, create and move layers, create clipping masks, and adjust text.
InDesign Business Card: Students learn to use InDesign by working with the Text tool, Rectangle tool, Rectangle Frame tool, and Text Alignment.
Illustrator Graphs & Charts: Students learn to create multiple artboards and change the color grading of an object by using the Pie Graph tool, Column Graph tool, Direct Selection tool, Text tool, and Color Picker tool.
Advanced
These orientations are designed for TECM 3000 & 4000 level courses.
Word Manual: Students learn to use MS Word to set up odd and even pages, use page breaks, edit headers, insert and modify page numbers, modify heading styles, insert citations, and insert reference tables.
Photoshop Poster: Students learn to use Adobe Photoshop tools, features, and advanced editing techniques to make advanced selections, create typography, set up advanced layer settings, and design a poster.
MadCap Flare Online Portfolio: Students learn to use MadCap Flare to import and convert a MS Word document into HTML5, manage content and variables, insert figures and create folders, and publish content in HTML5 and PDF formats.
InDesign Magazine Spread: Students learn to use InDesign to create a new document, add and assign Master Pages, add page numbers, place and insert images, place text from MS Word, and use paragraph styles.
