Google My Maps allows you to create and save a map that has layers, points of interest, routes, shapes, add text, images, and even YouTube videos to your points on the map and shapes, and import info from a spreadsheet.

Go to your Drive > Click "New" > "More" > "Google My Maps"

Go to google.com/mymaps
* All your maps will be saved in your Drive
- Title your map
- Use the search bar to search for locations
- Drop pins on the map
- Add lines and areas
- Add additional information to pins, lines, and areas: text, links, images, YouTube videos
- Organize your objects with layers (think of layers as a collection of pins, lines and shapes)
- Customize your pins and shapes
- Measure distances and areas
- Add directions from points on your map (driving, biking, walking)
- Share and collaborate your map

Label your pins, shapes, and lines.
Add:
➡ Label
➡ Images or video
➡ Text
➡ Links
Customize your pins (color & icon).
Customize your shapes (color, transparency, and border width).
Don't forget to "Set default view" of your map!
Set your map on the screen to where you want the starting view to be, click on the three dot icon and click "Set default view".
Other cool features include styling your objects based on data. Within a layer you can go to "Individual styles" and choose how the style will be applied.
Example: You put in the description in a set of pins a number and then style based on "description", this will style the pin based on its number.
Google My Maps allows students to create their own maps displaying all sorts of content.
- Drop pins anywhere on a global map
- Add pins from a search in the search box
- Add information to pins (title, description, photos, etc.)
- Choose the kind of pin you’d like (by color or different icons)
- Draw lines or shapes over maps to help viewers interpret content easier
- Adding pins to different layers let you organize and turn certain locations on and off
- Create maps by importing data (Google support page with instructions)
- Zoom to the view you prefer and set it as your default view
- Share maps via link or embed them in a website
