Book K-5 Tutor
Team W.E. inc. is designing an after school program. The program will establish partnerships with local libraries, publishers, and community organizations to secure donations and discounts for books and educational resources. It will also collaborate with local cultural institutions and experts to arrange culturally enriching field trips and guest speaker engagements. Trained program staff and volunteers will design and implement engaging literacy activities aligned with the participants' age and grade levels.
The program will aim to provide a minimum of 100 additional books and educational resources to the students' collective personal libraries, organize at least 5 cultural enrichment events, field trips or guest speaker events, and facilitate weekly literacy-focused activities for students.
Field Trips: Embark on captivating adventures in Baltimore for grades K-2, where Black culture, interactive experiences, STEM learning, and social-emotional development seamlessly intertwine. Explore, grow, and thrive in an immersive journey of knowledge and self-discovery.
Outdoor Activities: Activities such as hiking, gardening, and playing team sports can promote physical health and social-emotional development.
STEM & Literacy Game Nights: Games that encourage teamwork, communication, and problem-solving can help children develop social skills and emotional regulation.
Book Clubs: Engaging children in book clubs or other forms of shared reading can help them develop communication skills and empathy for others.
Arts and Crafts: Activities such as drawing, painting, and sculpting can help children express their emotions and develop creativity and problem-solving skills.
Guest Reader Events: Engage young minds with immersive storytelling as guest speakers bring characters to life, fostering creativity and participation in the narrative.Acting out scenarios and role-playing can help children develop empathy, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Music and Dance: Playing instruments, singing, or dancing can help children express emotions, build confidence, and develop social skills.
Cooking and Baking: Collaborating on cooking projects can help children develop social skills and learn to follow instructions and work as a team.
Mindfulness Meditation: Teaching children mindfulness techniques can help them manage stress, increase self-awareness, and improve focus.
Journaling: Encouraging children to keep a journal can help them reflect on their emotions, identify patterns, and develop self-awareness.
Service Learning: Participating in community service activities can help children develop empathy, a sense of responsibility, and social skills.
