The Costa Brava has made a decisive contribution to the consolidation of the sun and beach tourism model in Spain. Although it continues to preserve unique values, this model now converges in a moment of collision, in which a regeneration is necessary. This work is based on the need to propose a new tourism model, much more sustainable and profitable than the overcrowded tourism: Vacation Cities.

In order to demonstrate the viability of this new model, on the one hand, the evolution of tourism and concepts such as sustainability and digitalization have been analyzed. On the other hand, a comparison has been established between two tourism models. To this end, a project of a hotel and one of a vacation city have been carried out, on the same rural estate, and a parallelism has been displayed in relation to the sustainability as well as the benefit of each one. This has confirmed the general hypothesis of this work that the future of tourism will be characterized by the predominance of vacation cities, since they are much more sustainable and profitable.

La Costa Brava ha contribuït de manera decisiva a la consolidació del model de turisme de sol i platja a Espanya. Tot i que continua conservant valors únics, aquest model ara convergeix en un moment de col·lisió, en el qual és necessària una regeneració. Aquest treball parteix de la necessitat de proposar un nou model turístic, molt més sostenible i rendible que el turisme massificat: les Ciutats de Vacances.

Per tal de demostrar la viabilitat d'aquest nou model, d'una banda, s'ha analitzat l'evolució del turisme i conceptes com la sostenibilitat i la digitalització. D'altra banda, s'ha establert una comparació entre dos models turístics. Per fer-ho, s'ha realitzat un projecte d'hotel i un de ciutat de vacances, a la mateixa finca real, i s'ha mostrat un paral·lelisme en relació a la sostenibilitat així com al benefici de cadascun. Això ha confirmat la hipòtesi general d'aquest treball que el futur del turisme es caracteritzarà pel predomini de les ciutats de vacances, ja que són molt més sostenibles i rendibles.
