Competency Model Clearinghouse
The Competency-Model Clearinghouse provides an excellent starting point for CBE program competency model development. The website contains 20 pre-built industry-specific models and one generic foundational Building Blocks model. Users can access and download one of the industry models or build their own by editing the competencies listed on the site. All competencies are validated by the US Department of Labor, which sponsors the site. Competencies can be added manually as well. The generic Building Blocks model contains the foundational knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that are needed across various industries.
Each model on the site contains a set of useful resources files that include:
Identify Credential Competencies Worksheet – use to prioritize competencies
Curriculum Analysis Worksheet – mapping and alignment worksheet
Employer Analysis Worksheet – workforce partner competency prioritization tool
Gap Analysis Worksheet – analyze curriculum or use with an assessment
