Course Development Considerations

CBE Programs and Courses are built based on the Backward Design Process.  

Beginning with the end in mind the consider these foundational questions for CBE Development:

•  Defining Competency 

  • "What skills, abilities or knowledge (learning outcomes) must the learner master at the end of this program or course" 

• Determine Assessment Evidence 

  • "How will those skills, abilities or knowledge be assessed?"

• Plan Learning Activities 

  • "What learning activities will cause the learner to be able to master the content?"

    • Include Instruction and Resources 

      • "What content is needed for the learner to achieve mastery of the defined skills, abilities or knowledge?"
