This piece was titled the "Existential Letter" project where we had to create the first letter of our name and three different symbols that identify us as a person. I chose to take a more cartoonist youthful approach. Making the T out of bones and adding spiky cuffs to them sets the light-hearted and playful scene for the two other characters. The happy caterpillar waving to those passing by represent my personable and social part of myself, one who has not curled up into its cocoon yet and is still young and naive to the world around it, happy to just be here. The goblin popping out the trash can is the more negative and grotesque feelings, hiding himself in the trash can and sometimes popping out to say hello. All together these characters come together to create a balanced world of public and private feelings. All pieces hand built, bisque fired, painted glaze and underglaze, then glaze fired.
