Leatherface 

This is a hand built mug inspired by the ugly parts of a face, a big snotty nose, oozing pimples, yellow teeth, sagging eyes. I wanted to create a piece that made you feel gross just by looking at it. Imagining that the mug is made of skin and all these facial features were manually attached to this skin vessel. The eyes make you feel droopy and tired like they are slowly falling down for eternity. The nose and pimples offer that element of grotesque disgust. Meanwhile the smiley mouth is there to offer it's humor, laughing at it's own impracticality. And the finger reminds us of our value of limbs, and how easily they can become a handle to lift a mug to your mouth. Hand built the mug then attached each feature, bisque fired, painted glaze, then glaze fire.
