Sand B-mix clay, Cone 6 fire glaze
Who doesn't love a happy warm home. This house is my version of a bird house, although the opening is a little to small for a bird. Growing up in a suburbia I have always been fascinated by the rows and rows of houses. Some all look the same and others stand out like a sore thumb. Carrying on this thought to imagine if all these homes had lives instead of the people living in it. So doing just that I first created the form of the house and gave it a mouth with windows as eyes. I wanted the viewers to be able to feel the presence of this home and what it has gone through. While the house isn't fully smiling neither frowning either it leaves sort of a questionable feeling. You know something happened by aren't quite sure what it is. I formed the house with slabs and the scoring and slipping method and used a needle tool to make the effect of it being a brick house. Bisque fired, painted glaze, then glaze fired.
