Big Music Day

2023 Big Music Day will be held 21st September.

TSOM showcases Big Music Day in September. This is held in the hall at the Great Lake Centre and involves around 200 students from schools in and around Taupō.  Schools, kura and home-schooled families are invited to bring their children to the Great Lake Centre for the day where they learn four pieces of music to perform in an orchestra at the end of the day. This is an annual event and it is, for most students, the largest orchestra that they will ever play in.

Big Music Day is an event for all young musicians of Taupō and the surrounding area.  Children who wish to participate do not need to be learning through the TSOM. We will liaise with schools and local music teachers to ensure that students do not miss out. Check out these links to get an idea of what Big Music Day is about. These pieces were played in 2019.
