TSOM Ensembles

TSOM has three youth ensembles under its umbrella. They are the Youth Wind Band and the Keynotes Choir. The third ensemble, the Taupō Youth Orchestra, is currently in recess.

The three groups perform regularly in the Taupō community and there is no cost to participate.

The Keynotes Choir is a great introduction to TSOM. Singing in the choir augments learning an instrument as it improves rhythm, aural and vocal skills and is lots of fun. The Keynotes rehearse every Tuesday providing easy access to students also having an instrument lesson on the same day. For enquiries please contact the Principal of the Music School on 027 573 1775.

Students are invited to join either the Taupō Youth Orchestra or the Youth Wind Band by their tutor once they have become competent at playing their instrument. These groups practise weekly at the Band Rooms on AC Baths Avenue.  Playing in either of these ensembles will improve students' playing as well as teach them how to play in a group. Rehearsal time also provides at least one practice each week!

If your child signs up to play in either the Youth Wind Band or the Taupō Youth Orchestra, we may ask for your assistance in transporting gear to various venues when playing in the community.
