Peggy was born and raised in Pictou County, Nova Scotia. She has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and a Bachelor of Education from St.FX University, and a Masters of Science in Physical Education from Dalhousie University.
As a Varsity Athlete at StFX, she competed in Basketball and Field Hockey. As a Coach at StFX University, she won an AUS title in Volleyball and in Soccer for her efforts in fostering the advancement of women in sport.
Peggy is a member of the St.FX Sport’s Hall of Fame in the builder category and in the Coach category.
Her teaching career at St.FX has been in the areas of Elementary school Physical Education, Health Education, Dance and Sociology of Sport. She has numerous presentations and publications in these areas. Throughout her career she acted as an advocate for strong Physical Education programs and was always happy to do in service presentations in dance and elementary school physical education. In the research milieu, her current interest is in Leadership Barriers to Women’s Sport Participation.
In the wider sport community she acts as a course conductor for the coaching association of Canada’s National Coaching Certification Program. For her contributions to StFX and the wider community Peggy is the recipient of many awards including the prestigious
