The TAPHE Dr. Hugh A. Noble Hall of Honour was brought to life at the 2015 October Conference in Halifax. As the TAPHE executive was compiling the TAPHE history to be documented online, they realized just how many amazing physical and health educators had made significant contributions to the province of Nova Scotia during their time as teachers. The executive wanted to celebrate and acknowledge these leaders through an annual presentation at the October TAPHE conference and the concept of a virtual Hall of Honour was born.
TAPHE history records were scoured and retired physical and health leaders around the province were consulted until a list was developed with eleven names for the inaugural class for the Hall of Honour in 2015.
On October 22, 2015, these eleven incredible professionals were inducted into the Dr. Hugh A. Noble Hall of Honour (Lifetime Achievement Award). All inductees are among ‘the greats’ in the history of Physical Education and Health Education over the past 60+ years.
Four more "greats" were inducted in 2016 in Antigonish and members will continued to be inducted every year as part of the annual TAPHE conference.
Recipients are honoured at a wine and cheese celebration and receive special gifts including lifetime access to all future TAPHE conferences and Hall of Honour events.
Special thanks goes to Awards Committee Chair, Amanda Brewer, for her passion and meticulous planning to make the Hall of Honour something special to celebrate a life of service by our outstanding retired professionals.
