Greg Grandy worked in the Dartmouth and Halifax Regional School Boards for 32 years. The majority of that time was in Elementary; only 2 years were spent teaching at the High School level. While working in Dartmouth, Greg was the Physical Education Consultant for 5 years. He worked for the Halifax Regional School Board as the Active Healthy Living Leader for one year.
Greg is a former TAPHE president of the Dartmouth Branch as well as registration and program chair for two TAPHE conferences. In 1989, he was the Program Chair for the Canadian Association for Health and Physical Education National Conference.
He has been on Implementation Teams for PE curriculum, seconded as a research assistant in 2001 for the PACY (Physical Activity in Children and Youth) Project, seconded as a Curriculum Implementation Support Teacher and co-authored a booklet for Canada Fit Week in 1989, 1990 and 1991. He also contributed to the first Fair Play manual in Canada and implemented DPA in the Dartmouth Board by providing workshops and developing activity guides for teachers.
Greg has been a presenter at many TAPHE conferences as well as board level in-services. He wrote monthly newsletters for 5 years to assist elementary classroom teachers with curriculum ideas. Greg was the Webmaster for the Elementary Physical Education Website.
It is no surprise to find out that Greg received the following awards:
Can you believe Greg had spare time to volunteer? Well, he found the time to give back to Dartmouth United Soccer, Caledonia Soccer, the United Way Campaign, Soccer Nova Scotia and Speed Skate Nova Scotia. He assisted in many ways; from president to committee chair to scheduler.
We have so many reasons to be thankful for all that Greg Grandy has made available to our students, at school and in the community. It is with great pleasure that TAPHE puts his name forward for induction into the TAPHE Hugh A Noble Hall of Honour.
