At the beginning of the semester I was greeted by Mr. McGuire and was asked, “Who are you?” Seems easy enough to answer is what most people would think but after answering the question simply we were informed that we would be writing about who we are throughout the semester. That when I was introduced to my first major assignment which was “the stranger in me”. This was the very first essay I had to write in the semester and well it was probably one of the most challenging questions that I have had to answer and write about. I didn’t know how to start this assignment and how to answer the question about my true self. Then in the second, I wrote about someone I see as a hero which was even more difficult for me since it has been the first time that I have been able to write about things like this. The Third assignment was a lot better since I started to get more use to the concepts. The fourth was still a little challenging but I enjoyed the research that I had to do since it gave me a good way to learn new things. The fifth is also asked a lot of research out of me and thanks to that research I gained more information and am more aware of how much the Covid-19 virus has affected the world. All these pieces that I wrote for this class can be separate but also can be very similar to another which is that of being a stranger to the world around us.
Throughout this semester I have had to work hard and use different types of media for different types of assignments. Like in Heroes/Villains I used a voice recorder on my phone then moved it to my laptop and then into SoundCloud to give easy access to my audience for pleasurable listening to my interview. I also had used a lot of ways to get pictures of good quality for my assignments and tried to get good pictures for the pieces I wrote. I used pictures I took on my phone in many assignments such as “The Stranger in Me” and “Piece of Mind”. Lastly, I made a collage of photos for my most recent major assignment to show pictures of how hard nurse and doctors have been working at hospitals to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus and the research felt similar to the assignment” Why the Divide”.
This entire semester I have learned so much to your different curriculum and it has been a pleasure to be in your class. At first, I did not understand why there was so much work involved but, in the end, I did enjoy writing all these assignments and going making up my own style of writing instead of writing is the same boring structure that I have my entire life. Doing it my own way was hard at first but definitely have thought me to enjoy my writing and I also have noticed large changes and improvements to my writing.
