The person that I chose to interview is Jessica who is one of my closest friends whom is Jessica. A little on Jessica is that she is 19 years old and is currently employed and works at Mc Donald’s with me. She was born in Chicago and was raised by her parent’s in the city of Chicago until they moved out into the suburbs of Oak Lawn. When she lived in Chicago, she said she liked her old neighborhood and had lots of friends while it also being very busy during the day and night.
When she moved to Oak lawn, she enrolled into Oak Lawn High School which was pretty hard on her since she is a very shy person around people for the first time. Making it a lot harder for her make friends with the people at her the school and she didn’t really like the area either since it was so different from her old neighborhood. Jimmy is her best friend and the first person she met when she first moved. Jimmy is the person who helped her adapt to the new area and became one of the most important people in her life.
When Jessica was young, she was raised by both her parents but was raised primarily by her mother due her father joining the military as soon as he graduated out of high school. So, she didn’t see him too often unless he was back from deployment. She said that her parents were the best influences she had when grouping up because they taught her everyday necessities and always made sure that she was doing good in school. They also pushed her to do great things so that she could become a good person in the future. I really admire how much she talks about her parents because everyone looks up to their parents for help.
Although she had a lot to say about her parents, when I asked about any other family members, she was quite hesitant to speak about them at first, but she talked about how her family is pretty religious and that they always made her to go church as a kid. She also mentioned that they rubbed off on her because even though she isn’t the most religious she still believes in her religion and that is very important to her.
Right now, she lives in Chicago by herself with her daughter Katelyn. She is studying to work as an EMT and is hoping to pursue further into the medical field and hopefully stride to get a degree in the future as she expands in her education. She told me that she had always wanted to go to the medical field when she was younger and that she always had a fascination with it.
She said she made a big stride in her education after high school to keep up towards her goals in her education towards the medical field. She took a year off of school to save up some money to pay for college and has earned a lot of work experience due to how many jobs she has had.
Jessica is a very nice and comforting person; she is also known to be very reliable and I have gotten to witness that about her first hand when I work with her. She always tries to put on a smile even if there is something bothering her. She also is very into music and enjoys going to concerts, Jessica mostly likes to listen to rap or R&B genre songs but also listens to all types of genres when she feels like it. She said that certain music she listens to is very relatable to her and that it gives her nostalgia by bringing back old memories of when she was young.
I asked what the hardest thing that she had to overcome in her life so far which was continuing her education after High School since she had bills to pay and had to work a lot. She said that it was a very hard time and that she felt like she wouldn’t be able to keep up in any of her classes taking care of her daughter and working. Which is definitely something most people can’t overcome. She also talked to me about how she talked about how she had plenty of friends leave her life but she’s happy with her friend group right now because they’ve stuck with her for a very long time and she trusts them with everything.
Anyway, I believe that Jessica has a heuristic personality because she always takes responsibilities for everything she does even if what she does isn’t obviously the best idea. I also find it very mature of her to have a kid at such a young age while keeping composure and doing the best to her ability to do everything and still be able to also pursue her interests in the medical field which anyone can agree isn’t easy. During our interview she said that she was thankful for how supportive her parents were to her despite how young she was. She also was were quiet about it and never spoke of it to anyone at school, but her friends were also very supportive. She mentioned that staying school was hard due to the fact that it gave her more responsibilities leaving her drained of energy, but her friends and family kept her in check and made sure she stayed on the right path. She is also a very supportive person. I asked her who her inspiration is and who she looks up to which were her parents because they have taught her lots of life lessons and help her prepare for adulthood so that she can become the woman that she is today. I admire the strength Jessica shows about how she had to deal with pregnancy at a young age. Most people would break down or think about abortion, but she dealt with it like a champ and also proved that she is mature enough to deal with the responsibilities.
The second person I interviewed was my younger brother who knows Jessica but isn’t too familiar with who she really is since he hasn’t really got the chance to talk to her or get close to her. A little information on my brother is that he is a Junior at Alan B Shepard High school and rarely works due to his pursuits in singing and acting as part of his after school activities and hopes to get into then industry somehow. When I interviewed him about Jessica, he agrees about how I find her to as more of a hero than a villain because of how she had overcome being a mother at such a young age. Krzys also mentioned that she is always very nice to everyone even if she doesn’t know you. Also, that he knows that she would be a great role model for people who choose to look up to her. He had plenty of good things to say about her. I asked him how he felt about her when they use to work together. He responded saying that it was okay and that they both didn’t talk a lot, but she was liked by a lot of the people she worked with. Although he said that she is very admirable for having to go through a early pregnancy and still being able to support herself.
