Jump Into Art is a VR experience created by 23 students at Columbia College Chicago intended to evoke a sense of awe within the player. In this experience, players are not just able to visit a gallery but also jump into the artwork. Observing one of the pieces, the player is engulfed by the painting, transporting them into a surrealist world.
I was one of the team's programmers. I wrote the script for the fade to black at the end of the experience and the event trigger code used for the animations and audio.
I worked using Unity and Maya to create and add animations of the angler fish, the seahorse, and the manta rays and incorporate the animations into the level.
I was also the producer of the programming team; I managed sprint meetings, assigned tasks to the programmers, and acted as a liaison between the programmer team and the level and art designers.
As the producer for the Jump Into Art programming team, I conducted weekly sprint meetings with the programmers outside of the regularly scheduled whole team progress meetings to discuss project progress and determine what tasks were assigned to team members based on their available time and skillset. This information would then be summarized and prepared to present to the entire team.
As the producer, I often acted as a liaison between other team leads on the project, collaborating with both level designers and artists to implement their work, and identify their needs and wants from the programmers that I could then address during the programmer sprint meetings.
