In math we are working on:

• Estimating and measuring length to the nearest inch

• Estimating and measuring weight to the nearest pound

• Reading the temperature on a Fahrenheit thermometer to the nearest degree

In reading we are working on:

• Nonfiction

• Understanding text features (Table of Contents, pictures, captions, bold words etc.)

• Making predictions based on the Table of Contents

• Answer and asking questions about a text

• Summarizing

• Identifying the main idea

In writing we are working on:

• Writing our All About books (topics that we already know a lot about)

• Creating a mind map about topics we know about

• Creating a focused mind map on a topic we choose

• Creating chapters from our mind map

• Creating a table of contents, glossary, and index

In social studies we are working on:

• Comparing the lives and contributions of the Powhatan and Lakota cultures of the past and present

• Describing the relationship between the geography, climate, environment and culture of the Powhatan and Lakota cultures

• Describing and evaluating the natural, human, and capital resources of the Powhatan and Lakota
