Math

This month our focus in Math is on attributes:

• sorting and classifying objects according to attributes (i.e. color, shape, size)

Reading

This month our focus in Reading is on building a community of readers:

• following the predictable structures and routines of Reader's Workshop

• exploring a variety of texts, genres, authors, and forms to determine the types of books they love.

• sharing ideas about texts with others

Writing

This month our focus in Writing is on building a community of writers:

• following the predictable structures and routines of Writer's Workshop.

• communicating ideas by talking, drawing pictures, and writing.

• exploring a variety of forms and genre to support the purpose of their pieces

Social Studies

This month we will focus on the following in Social Studies:

• Economics - wants, needs, and making choices

• Geography - positional words (near/far, above/below, left/right, behind/in front of)

• History - past and present, and change over time

Science

This month we will focus on the following in Science:

• basic properties of objects:

  1. colors

  2. shapes

  3. size

• five human senses and the corresponding body parts:

  1. taste/tongue

  2. touch/skin

  3. hearing/ears

  4. smell/nose

  5. sight/eyes
