This month we will focus on the following:
1) Data Analysis:
collecting, organizing, and representing data
reading and interpreting data in object graphs, picture graphs, and tables
2) Geometry:
identifying and describing plane geometric figures (circle, triangle, square, and rectangle)
comparing the size (larger, smaller) and shape of plane geometric figures (circle, triangle, square, and rectangle)
describing the location of one object relative to another (above, below, next to) and identifying representations of plane geometric figures (circle, triangle, square, and rectangle) regardless of their positions and orientation in space
This month we will focus on talking about books, including the following:
understanding that connecting with people about books can change the way a reader feels about reading
explaining a reader's ideas about text
actively engaging in conversation with others about text.
This month we will focus on persuasive writing:
writers communicate opinions or ideas on topics they feel strongly about to share their perspectives
writers provide reasons or evidence to support their opinion
This month we will :
1) demonstrate being a good citizen by
a) taking turns and sharing
b) taking care of personal belongings and respecting what belongs to others
c) following rules and understanding consequences
d) practicing honesty, self-control, and kindness to others
d) participating in classroom decision making
e) participating successfully in group settings
2) understand how communities express patriotism through events and symbols, including recognizing the holiday and people associated with Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, and Juneteenth
Our focus will be on the following:
1) sink or float - some materials float in water while others sink.
2) reduce, reuse, recycle, conservation:
materials and objects can be used over and over again
everyday materials can be recycled
water and energy conservation at home and in school helps ensure resources are available for future use
