In math we will finish Geometry:
identifying and describing plane geometric figures (circle, triangle, square, and rectangle)
comparing the size (larger, smaller) and shape of plane geometric figures (circle, triangle, square, and rectangle)
describing the location of one object relative to another (above, below, next to) and identifying representations of plane geometric figures (circle, triangle, square, and rectangle) regardless of their positions and orientation in space
We will also learn about Fraction Concepts:
recognizing fractions as representing parts of equal size of a whole
representing halves using region/area models
Solving practical problems involving equal sharing with two shares
This month we will continue talking about books, including the following:
understanding that connecting with people about books can change the way a reader feels about reading
explaining a reader's ideas about text
actively engaging in conversation with others about text.
This month our focus in writing will be on:
strategies to help write words.
spacing between words
ending punctuation
capitalization at the beginning of each sentence
This month we revisit the following:
1) how communities express patriotism through events and symbols, including recognizing the holiday and people associated with Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, and Juneteenth
2) understand that people earn money in different ways to satisfy their wants and needs
3) maps and globes
Our focus will revisit the basic needs and life processes of plants:
plants need nutrients, water, air, light, and a place to grow to survive
plants change as they grow
