Academic Screener (Reading and Math)

Reading and Math Screenings are supportive, child-friendly tools used to better understand how your child learns 🧠📚➕❤️

These screenings are not formal diagnoses, but they help identify early signs of dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other learning challenges while showing where your child may benefit from extra support.

During the reading screening, we look at important foundational skills such as:

The Test of Dyslexia

The Test of Dyslexia (TOD) is a comprehensive assessment designed to measure skills related to reading development and characteristics commonly associated with dyslexia. The TOD is used by educators and trained professionals to identify patterns of strengths and weaknesses that may indicate a risk for dyslexia. (WPS Publish)

The TOD includes multiple assessment tasks that evaluate a student’s literacy and language-processing skills. These areas may include:

• Phonological awareness (the ability to hear and manipulate sounds in words)
• Letter and word recognition
• Phonics knowledge and decoding skills
• Reading fluency and reading comprehension
• Spelling skills
• Rapid automatic naming
• Orthographic processing (recognizing written word patterns)
• Vocabulary knowledge and reasoning abilities
