History
The ship was built by Yarrow Shipbuilders in Glasgow. Rahmat's design was typical for a Royal Navy frigate and became the basis for the Thai frigate HTMS Makut Rajakumarn also built by Yarrow. Rahmat was the first warship in the region equipped with surface-to-air missiles. The SeaCat missiles were replaced with an extra 40mm Bofors machine gun in a 1982 refit.
