Tell us more about your research and why you became interested in this specific field.

Discover the heartbeat behind my research in missiology, youth and campus ministry, and Christian education. My journey with Scripture Union Ghana in campus ministry opened my eyes to the profound stories of high school students. These experiences revealed their deep wounds and the urgent need for missional care and support. Motivated by their challenges, I embarked on a scholarly journey to find solutions, drawing on my expertise in youth teaching, leadership development, educational administration, and mentoring. Through this interdisciplinary approach, I explore how Scripture Union Ghana, the leading parachurch group, that focuses on high school campus ministry, addresses, and heals these wounded hearts, while embarking on a mission to avert further wounds.

Research for Impact is one of the core strategic themes in SU`s Vision 2040. Can you describe the (potential) impact of your research?

The result of my study is expected to be a valuable resource for missionaries, youth workers, and educators towards the enhancement of youth transformation and discipline, salvation and spiritual growth experiences of students, positive mentoring relationships on campuses, and leadership development for churches and schools.

In the ever-changing environment of academia, what are some of the obstacles postdoctoral researchers are faced with?

Finding job placement within the academe can be challenging due to the competitive nature of academic positions and the limited number of academic roles. Additionally, securing funding for conferences and research makes it difficult to advance their work and gain the necessary exposure. Moreover, mentorship opportunities are often limited, making it difficult for postdoctoral researchers to navigate their academic careers.

What would you regard as the most important aspects to consider to effectively support postdoctoral researchers?

Workshops and training sessions on skills such as grant writing, teaching, and leadership.

What excites you about your work?

Interacting with colleague postdoctoral fellows and discussing the common challenges.

When you're not in the lab, library or in the field conducting research, what do you do to unwind?

Listening to music or podcasts.

How has the postdoctoral researcher programme of SU contributed to your research career?

It has given me the space to reflect on my doctoral studies deeply and significantly enhanced my research skills.

What advice, if any, would you look to impart to future postdoctoral researchers?

Be resilient
