What We've been Honored For and Why it Means So Much to Us
When we started Sunnies, we hadn't imagined we’d end up receiving actual awards for the snacks we make. Our goal was just to create clean, natural foods using organic ingredients that help people feel good and function their best. But over time, as more people tried our granola, fruit leathers, and protein snacks, we started getting attention from organizations that care about purity, sustainability, nutrition, and people as a whole. As word spread, some of our products worked their way to the top, and we are so grateful for all the honors we have receieved. These awards mean a lot to us because they represent the things we work the hardest on: clean ingredients, transparency, and supporting our local community. Anyone, whether going for a heart healthy diet, athletes, or people who just want to improve their health, can hear about our superfoods through awards. However, the biggest honor of them all is being able to serve a community of hardworking and self-nurturing individuals, so a huge thank you to our community for getting us here in the first place.
Clean Label Project™ Purity Award
This award was a huge deal for us because it focuses on product cleanliness and purity—specifically, how clean your ingredients really are. Sunnies won this because everything we make is tested for heavy metals, pesticides, and contaminants, and our results stayed extremely low. We don’t use added sugar, artificial flavors, or fillers, and we choose organic oats, fruit, and pea protein. This award confirms our mission and goal from the start: snacks that are actually clean, not just marketed that way.
Good Food Awards: Snack Category Finalist
These awards look at two things: how your food tastes and how responsibly you source your ingredients. Sunnies made it into the finalist group because we use locally grown Washington fruit and organically grown oats, and we keep everything minimally processed so it remains still real food. The judges loved how naturally sweet our fruit leathers were and how balanced our granola flavors turned out—all without any added sugar. This recognition made us really proud because it reminds us that healthy snacks can still taste amazing and we don't have to sacrifice good taste for fuel for our bodies.
Non-GMO Project Verified
Getting Non-GMO Verified takes a lot of work because every ingredient you use has to be traced and tested. We earned this verification because our oats and fruits are fully organic, and our pea protein (which is often genetically modified in other products) comes from a completely traceable, organic, non-GMO source. Our whole product line meets the requirements, which means customers can trust that Sunnies snacks don’t include anything genetically engineered.
Mom's Choice Awards® : Placing Gold
This one means a lot to us because families were a big inspiration for our brand. So many parents were frustrated with sugary kids’ snacks filled with chemicals and dyes, and we wanted to offer something better. Parents who reviewed our snacks said they loved that our ingredients are simple , organic, and recognizable, and their kids still loved the taste even without added sugar. Winning Gold from the Mom’s Choice Awards told us we’re doing something right when it comes to family-friendly nutrition and genuine customer care.
Outdoor Retailer Innovation Award: Nutrition
We were highly recognized by the outdoor and adventure community for making snacks that actually work for performance and endurance. Our oat-based carbs give slower, steady energy, while the fruit provides fast fuel—plus, our snacks don’t melt, get sticky, or crumble in a backpack. This award specifically highlighted our Chocolate-Dipped Dried Fruit Bites because they hold up well on long hikes and provide clean energy without weighing you down, plus they taste amazing. We have the hiking community to thank us for the inspiration for engineering on this product!
Whole Foods Market Foragers Award
Whole Foods gave us a Foragers Award because of our commitment to local sourcing and sustainability. We work with growers here in Washington for fruit, oats, and honey, and we’ve always prioritized low-waste production and eco-friendly packaging. This award showed us that big organizations notice when small brands make intentional choices that support local farmers. We love our farmers, and so do our products!
Seattle Made Sustainable Impact Award
Since Sunnies is based in Seattle, this award meant a lot. Seattle Made recognized us for our efforts to keep our supply chain local, reduce transportation emissions, and experiment with compostable packaging. Our partnership with Washington farms and our low-waste production system helped us stand out among other environmentally focused businesses in the area. We take pride in where we are from, and this award inspires us to give back to the Seattle community even more.
Our Biggest Thanks
Every award highlights something we care about—clean ingredients, local sourcing, nutrition, sustainability, and being trustworthy. We didn’t set out to win awards, but earning them is the proof that the time and effort we put into choosing real ingredients actually matters. It represents to us that people want snacks they can feel good about eating and giving to their kids. To our Sunnies community of customers and supporters, our staff members, the Seattle and larger Washington area, our farmers and cultivators, and each of the institutions we received awards from, we offer you our biggest thank you.
Awards are nice. As always, our real focus is staying consistent: using natural, nutrient-dense ingredients, choosing local farms whenever possible, and keeping ingredients, processes, and business transparent. With further publicity, we want to increase distribution through organic food delivery, furthering our business. We couldn't have started the early stages of implementing this new method without the attention and larger customer base we have attained through these awards. We want our snacks to stay simple, clean, and genuinely good for you—not because it wins awards, but because that’s the whole reason we started Sunnies in the first place: for causes greater than us and any awards we could get.
