Summer Sing 2025 Audition Information
Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 6:30 pm
Room #A214 - Children’s Building
Please call/email Sheila Goskie at 813-264-8747 or sgoskie@idlewild.org if you have any questions.
Be Sure to Consider:
If you audition you must be prepared to receive a part. If you receive a part, you will have one class less of your choice classes than others in your age group. Completed 2nd/3rd will have only 1 class choice if you receive a part. Completed 4th/5th will only have 2 class choices if you receive a part. Please don’t audition if you aren’t willing to do that!!
There may be classes that only meet at the same time as rehearsal for these parts so that would mean you couldn’t get those classes.
Choreography parts are a part of our “Let’s Move” class.
If your child receives a part, they must be prepared to learn the majority of it “outside” of SummerSing time. We will review, polish, stage, etc. during the week of SummerSing, but memorizing and practicing must take place at home!
Be Sure to Know:
All students will participate in the Family Night Show. All SummerSing participants will learn songs from the musical and be a part of the mini-musical presentation on Family Night. Only those who would like a special part (solo or speaking part) will need to prepare as described and audition on June 17th.
No younger siblings please.
Be prepared to stay for the entire time.
Unlike our spring presentation auditions, NOT everyone who auditions will receive a part. That doesn’t mean someone is good or bad it just means we only have a limited number of parts available.
We do typecast – so no matter how wonderful you are, if we need a tall kid or a boy or . . . you may not receive a part.
Make-up auditions will be by video submission only. You will need to video your child performing the audition as described in the audition details above.
Once complete, upload your video to YouTube (unlisted), Drop Box, Google Drive, or any other web-based file storage site and create a shareable link. You will need to email the link to Sheila Goskie at sgoskie@idlewild.org and let her know your child’s name, grade and part they are auditioning for (solo or speaking part).
If you are unable to upload the video, you may copy it to a flash drive, place it in an envelope marked “SummerSing Auditions - Sheila Goskie” and drop it off at Event Registration on Wednesday evenings or Sunday mornings. You may also drop it off at the main church office Monday - Friday from 9:00 - 4:00. Be sure to include your child’s name, grade and part they are auditioning for inside the envelope with the flash drive.
All videos must be received on or before 6/17 at noon in order to be considered for a special part. If your child is interested in a special part but unable to attend the audition it is your responsibility to make sure that your video audition has been received.
There will be no late auditions considered.
For Singing Parts:
Your child will need to sing 1 of the songs below (we will provide a track for you) – no other songs will be accepted.
There are NOT any options for bringing your own track.
Songs to choose from: “We Want a King” (from “The Kingdom Connection” 1st verse), “The Kingdom Connection” (from “The Kingdom Connection” 1st verse-Ms. 17-26); “My Favorite Things” (from “Sound of Music"- prepare from beginning through p. 4 – “Then I don’t feel so bad”); “How Far I’ll Go” (From “Moana”- Prepare from beginning through p. 3 – “if I go, there’s just no telling how far I’ll go”).
We may stop you sooner or ask you to repeat.
See the following link for listening & split tracks: SummerSing 2025 Audition Tracks
Your child needs to do hand movements and/or facial expression, etc. as appropriate for the song - not necessarily choreography but movement
For Speaking Parts:
Click here to see audition monologues. Prepare one of these monologues to present to judges, parents and other children on your audition date.
Please use expression, props, etc. as you please.
Memorization is encouraged but not required. Please don’t read!
