SummerSing 2024 Class Descriptions
Please note that classes marked 4th/5th are only offered for participants who have completed 4th or 5th Grade. We will do our best to place students in their top choices. All classes are not available at all hours, in all age groups. Requests are filled on a first come, first serve basis. Sorry, no guarantees. If a class is not shown in the list on the registration, it is no longer available. Only students who have just completed 4th or 5th Grade are eligible to take classes marked as 4th/5th. Likewise, only students who have just completed 2nd or 3rd may choose a class marked 2nd/3rd. If a class is listed in red on the registration form, that means it is no longer available. If classes listed in red have 2nd/3rd or 4th/5th next to them it means it is full for the listed grade level only. If you choose a class your child is not eligible for, it will be removed from your registration.
* Classes marked with an * will be working with food so if you have dietary restrictions, food sensitivities or food allergies, please consider choosing a different class. We will do our best to meet the needs of students with food allergies where necessary but are not able to accommodate special requests in these classes.

Awesome Art (4th/5th) - Discover the world of color with your paintbrush! Learn basic art strokes, techniques, and appreciation for God, our Master Artist. (For beginners-intermediate knowledge)
B.A.S.I.C. Training (Body and Soul in Christ) - Explore new and exciting ways to train your body and strengthen your faith through fun fitness activities & tasty nutritious treats.
Be a Composer (4th/5th) - Learn how to put notes, rhythms & words together and write your own song.
Be Our Guest* - Have fun learning basic etiquette skills like napkin folding, table setting, arranging flowers, hand shaking, and thank you notes.
Bible Journaling A - Engage more freely with the Word of God in new ways by recording personally inspiring scriptures in creative and artistic ways.
Bible Journaling B (5th only, prerequisite Bible Journaling A) - Take your Bible Scripting skills to the next level with advanced tools.
Boomwhackers - Play songs and do activities with these long, colorful & fun percussion tubes.
Boys’ Boot Camp for Jesus (boys only) - Explore Jesus and His Handiwork hands on as you learn some fun sports techniques and other physical activities.
CKV (4th/5th) - Learn how to shoot and produce professional quality videos. Students will have the opportunity to write, produce, act in, shoot and edit their own music video.
Creative Cakes* - Learn basic cake decorating techniques using fondant with hands on experience including rolling, piping and decorating your own individual creations.
Dance Experience - Each day you will learn the basics from a different type of dance, ranging from ballet to tap!
Digital Design & Creation (4th/5th) - Learn fundamentals of creating digital images for use in video productions. This class is hands-on using professional, industry-standard applications & technology to bring imagination to the screen. Basic computer experience is recommended.
Gadgets & Creative Engineering - Building gadgets and solving problems using Science, Math, and Engineering concepts in a fun and creative way.
Geocache - A high tech outdoor treasure hunt for all ages! Learn to use a GPS to locate and hide "geocaches" or "caches".
Guitar - Learn the basics of playing the guitar. You will need to provide your own guitar or rent one for the week (we have rental info. available)
Harp A (2nd/3rd) - Make a harp and learn the basics of playing harp.
Harp B (4th/5th) - For those who are interested in learning to play the harp and can read sheet music. You will learn the basics of the Harp and a song to perform.
In Stitches A (For those who have little to no machine sewing experience) - Learn to sew the basics; buttons, hems, and make a project to take home.
In Stitches B (For those with some experience using a sewing machine) - Expand your sewing knowledge & skills.
Incredible Edibles* - From yummy food to edible slime, learn how God’s creation works together to form new textures and tastes and. Learn how to create easy recipes from appetizers to desserts.
Jammin Jump Rope - Learn how to have fun and get some great exercise with friends learning skills in single rope, long rope and double dutch areas of jump rope.
Let’s Move! - A choreography/movement class learning a song for our mini-musical/Family Night. Must attend Family Night on Thursday night to participate.
Lights! Camera! Action! - A drama class to develop and stretch your acting 'muscles' through games, improvisation & group exercises. The perfect class for those with big imaginations, who are not afraid to have fun and look a little silly!
Martial Arts (4th/5th) - Learn the 5 tenets of Taekwondo and what they mean along with an intro to basic skills.
No Business Like Show Business - Learn the skills needed to be a "triple threat" in Musical Theatre: singing, acting, and choreography.
Orff & Drum - Play different kinds of xylophones and drums including congas, ocean drums, djembes, etc.
Organ - (4th/5th with 2-3 years private piano lessons) Learn to play on our big organ. Be willing to learn a basic 2-hand piece assigned before coming to SummerSing.
Origami - Learn the ancient Japanese art of paper folding. Using an ordinary piece of paper, this class will be making airplanes, birds, flowers, and everything in between!
Outdoor Survival - Learn skills and participate in activities to prepare you for outdoor survival situations.
Packing Up Christmas in July - Got Rhythm? Go on mission with Operation Christmas Child to learn about children in need around the world! Keep the beat! Make small musical rhythm toys to pack in shoeboxes along with school supplies & essential items. Promote your rhythm by practicing rhythm drills with cups and sticks!
Pampered Hearts for Jesus! (girls only) - Create crafts to pamper your outward beauty while you allow Jesus to beautify your heart.
Perfectly Planned Parties* - Create a party everyone will adore! Use stamping, paper piecing, and other creative mediums to make invitations, decorations, and party favors for an unforgettable party experience.
Piano Skills A - Learn to identify every key on the piano and play some simple songs.
Piano Skills B - For those who know the notes on the piano and have previous piano experience.
Pipe Cleaner Creations - Create your favorite animals and explore the wonders of God’s creation!
Ready, Set, Build! - Drill, Saw and Paint your way to creating theatrical sets and props that will be used to support the Family Night Presentation.
Say Cheese (4th/5th) - Using their own digital camera, students will learn photography basics and get some hands-on experience using the art of photography to deliver a message and bring glory to God. Students must bring their own digital camera.
Scrapbooking & Paper Crafting - Join us as we discover and create non-traditional ways to showcase photos. We will also create several paper crafts that will help you personalize your next celebration.
Sign Language - Learn the alphabet, numbers, colors, animals, vocabulary and a song using sign language.
Sowing Seeds for God’s Glory - This hands-on class includes both indoor and outdoor projects each day. Discover how to grow plants from seeds and learn what plants need to make them grow. Help tend our Memorial Courtyard Garden and create works of garden art.
Super Scientist - Hands on lab time that teaches our world is wonderfully made and designed by God. He is the ultimate scientist - all the processes on Earth are His creation.
Ukulele - Learn the basics of the ukulele and play a simple melody. Ukulele will be provided to rent for the week with the option to purchase.
Violin (4th/5th) - Learn about the violin and play a simple melody. Will need to bring your own violin (we have rental info)
Vocal Skills - Learn the basics of singing using vocal techniques to develop your voice. Improve vocal strength & sound quality so you can sing with confidence. Participants will learn a song for our mini-musical/Family Night. Must attend Family Night on Thursday night to participate.
