Sometimes, we just need to make our own way through the summer! If your vacation or staycation plans prohibit you from engaging in one of the "official" learning communities, or if you have an idea that doesn't seem to fit another one of these tracks, don't try to fit a square peg in a round hole--make summer PD your own!
We're offering a range of remote workshops every week this summer to support your professional development growth. We invite you to meet with a member of the online learning team, outline your PD path, and then go for it!
This custom track supports projects designed to be completed in 10-20 hours. Within the custom project, you will:
develop a customized project plan with help from online learning;
determine a deliverable for your project;
engage in 5-10 hours of professional development workshops;
meet regular with an assigned mentor;
identify your own custom outcomes.
This Learning Community is designed for any faculty teaching an online or hybrid course that wants to do some custom work to improve that course.
Work in this Learning Community will be remote asynchronous, with some synchronous 1-on-1 meetings with someone from the online learning team. The time commitment is flexible, between 10-20 hours, which includes meetings, planning, workshops, and work on your course.
Full-Time faculty can earn up to 1 unit of PGA (1 unit = 18 hours). Part-Time faculty are paid $50 per hour.
The details are flexible depending on your proposed project, but should include at least one of the following:
revision to incorporate equity-based teaching and learning practices;
development of accessible video or other multi-media content to support diverse learners;
incorporation of humanized online learning practices;
an accessible, intentionally-designed Canvas site;
something amazing that we have overlooked, but you can propose!
