Can I join more than one learning community?

We strongly suggest you focus on a single learning community, though we invite you to customize your experience by attending any of our 1- or 2-hour summer workshops.

Do I have to be in a learning community to join a workshop?

Nope! We realize you may have limited time this summer to devote to new projects. If that is the case, feel free to join only the workshops that interest you.

How do I register for a workshop?

Registration is not required for 1- and 2-hour workshops, but is required for any of the four Learning Communities.

What if I am on vacation during a Learning Community?

Being together--sharing, discussing, and giving critical feedback to one another is part of each learning community, so participation is really important. That said, family and vacation are important, too! So, plan to attend as many of the meeting times as possible but we understand that you may have to miss one or two meetings.

What is the compensation for individual workshops?

We're glad you'd like to attend a single workshop, but unfortunately, the compensation negotiated for summer work is limited to the work within a learning community.

If there are several workshops you're interested in, though, why not propose your own bespoke "Pick Your Flavor" summer experience?

Does compensation include the hours I spend working on my course?

Yes and no. Some of the learning communities may have associated homework. Some of that homework may be included in the time commitment. In most cases, however, you'll do individual work setting up or revising your course, just as you normally would spend time getting your course ready each term.

So, bottom line, PGA and stipends are holistic--not necessarily hour for hour. Please see individual learning community descriptions for compensation details.
