Summer Professional Development

Moving from emergency remote teaching
to quality online courses

What's your flavor?

Whether you are teaching on campus, hybrid, or fully online, two years of COVID have impacted you and your students. This summer, our PD offerings will focus on what we've learned from the last two years, leveraging these "lessons" to improve teaching and learning using digital tools.

Individual Workshops

Whether you are in a learning community, or just looking to brush up on a skill or two, we have workshops all summer to help you polish your Canvas, online learning, and hybrid skills. Check out the Workshop Descriptions or the Calendar, or use the button below to join today's workshop.

About the Learning Communities

Teaching is rewarding, but challenging! This summer, we offer four distinct but interconnected learning communities that will allow you to work with peers, the office of equity, and the online learning team to help you revise, refresh, or reframe your courses--whatever your modality.

Please select a tile, below, to learn more about your PD choices, or use the button at the bottom of the page to register for the learning community of your choice.

Designing Effective College Courses

An introduction to teaching at Foothill College. This Learning Community, tailored to faculty in their first year of teaching at Foothill, focuses on developing intentional courses informed by our equity mission and aligned to learning outcomes.

Redesigning Online and Hybrid Courses

Whether you want to deeply engage with the Equity Affirmation, redesign your course using OER, or revise your assessments to support a growth mindset, this learning community offers robust resources and peer engagement to support your work.

Peer Online Course Review

Ready for the double scoop with sprinkles? Peer Online Course Review (affectionately called POCR), deals everyone a winning hand. Work with peers to align your online course to the CVC's Quality Online Course Design Rubric.

Pick your flavor

Not sure you're ready for a full learning community, or have specific needs that don't fit in another box? Work with a mentor to design your own bespoke summer PD by choosing from our summer workshops--
