As we look forward to next summer (yes, 2024!) and our middle and high school enrichment courses, we'd like to invite you to apply to teach for our program.
About the Program
Since 1979, the CSUN Summer Academic Enrichment Program (SAEP) has hosted middle and high school students on our campus. Unlike a traditional school setting, SAEP offers enrichment-learning for the student. While every class has objectives and standards, there's no homework or grades. The goals are for students to have fun while learning and for teachers to enjoy teaching about what they are passionate.
In 2024, we will offer 2 sessions: a three-week session and a two-week session:
Session 1: June 24th - July 12th
Session 2: July 15th - July 26th
Each day (8:30am - 1:00pm), students take three 80-minute courses. As a teacher, you teach up to three periods for either or both sessions.
About the Classes
Please follow the SAEP link above to see the full daily schedule and to see our current course offerings. The course topic is what you propose; we will offer it on our website, and if the class fills (15 students minimum), you teach it.
Courses we have successfully offered in the past and/or offer currently include: Musical Theatre, Creative Writing, Movie-making, Digital Photography, Robotics, Algebra, Intro to Geometry, Uekele, American Sign Language, Spanish, Improv(ization), Speech and Debate, Culinary Arts, Drawing, Coding, Painting.
The Invitation
If you have a course idea that you have always wanted to teach, but limitations in the regular school year prevent that, propose the idea to us! Please let us know who you are and what you'd like to teach in this survey.
If you'd like to visit SAEP this summer, please let us know, and we can schedule a visit (before July 20th).
For any questions, please contact me.
Thank you,
